Beautiful easy walk a lot of people running biking and walking dogs. Swim beach, rent kayaks and have a treat or a bite near the band shell.

Beautiful greenspace with lots of parking to explore the lake by boat or around the boat on foot or bicycle. Options to get food and drink too.

Very nice environment. Relaxing with lots of open space to sit and enjoy the lake and all of its amenities. On site coffee shop was great and even had an Ice cream offering.

A part of the Chain of Lakes which is a beautiful urban park system started in 1883. Beautiful lake surrounded by a walking and biking path and a nice beach on the southern shore. The Lake Harriet Bandshell on the northern end of the lake is the home for outdoor summer concerts.

We had a nice walk around Lake Harriet - a short walk as one of our party had limited mobility but it was flat and had easy paths with a lot of shade. We saw families swimming in the lake and there are also paddle boards/canoes to hire. And a cafe which is ok for a snack and drink.

Nice views of the lake. Picnic tables as there’s an on-site food place. More tables need shades as the sun was fierce the day we visited. Food was very mediocre especially for the price. Take your own food instead and simply enjoy a pretty lake view.

We came to the lake to take Master Eight to the playground. It would have been nice to walk around the lake, but Master Eight was sadly not inclined to be dragged away from the play area, and it was probably too cold for us Sydneysiders who had just come from more summery temperatures. We enjoyed marvelling at the frozen water, though it was sadly too thin to walk on in early April.
I can imagine it would be a lovely area to go for a walk when the weather warms up (for those accustomed to more temperate climes, anyway; we spotted some locals in shorts, so they were clearly enjoying the relatively milder weather compared to that of the deep winter months). There is a bandstand by the water and I’m sure that outdoor concerts here in the summer would be very picturesque.

The path around Harriet is well maintained and the lake is always lovely. Check out the bandshell and the Rose Garden in the spring; the Linden Hills neighborhood on the west side is very nice as well. This area is very safe and the paths are heavily used.

Beautiful in all seasons. Ran around the lake a few years ago for the Minneapolis Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, and enjoy coming in the summer spring and fall for a walk around the lake and people and dog watching. There are parking lots, and often street parking available .

There are some excellent trails here for long walks with lots of views of the tranquil lake. Good in all sorts of weather. You might spot Mary Tyler Moore throwing her hat in the air.

Hello - can someone tell me how many miles it is to walk or bike around any of these lakes? Harriett, Calhoun, or others?
Realistic driving time to the airport on a Sunday afternoon would also be great :)

I just found some answers to my own question -
Lake Harriet Park - Pedestrian (2.75 miles), Bike (2.99 miles)
Lake Calhoun Park - Pedestrian (3.1 miles), Bike (3.19 miles)
Lake of the Isles Park - Pedestrian (2.63 miles), Bike (2.76 miles)
Cedar Lake Park - Pedestrian (1.68 miles), Bike (1.68 miles)
Total for Chain of Lakes - not sure what is included - Pedestrian (14.81 miles), Bike (15.27 miles)
