Lovely quiet area for a picnic lunch and/or walk on the boardwalk. The boardwalk is currently being repaired but you can still walk a good portion of it. Be careful not to touch the cow parsnip/giant hogweed plants as this can cause a severe contact dermatitis.

Quiet spot with a boardwalk around a marshy island. It’s apparently great for bird watching which may be seasonal because I didn’t see much in the way of wildlife there. It is quite beautiful there though, with a nice flat boardwalk meaning everyone is able to do it and enjoy the scenery.
The on-site bathrooms leave MUCH to be desired.

Amazing scenary and spectacular beaches. We have been going here yearly and our kids love it. Bring a lunch as there is no where to puchase anything. A beautiful boardwalk surrounds the protected lands. Kids will love playing and swimming in the water. There is a changeroom and washrooms. A must see!

If you're looking for a nice walk in the fresh air and lovely sights to see, this is the place for you! It's always free, not very big but you'll get to see birds and the sunset on the water just doesn't compare to anything else. Perfect for a romantic walk, quality family time or even a nice jog on the boardwalk! We go every summer!

This is a great area(island) where you can drive you car, free parking, walk around the island with all different trails or just lay down by the shore and maybe go for a swim.

My boyfriend and I were on a road trip from Moncton to Tracadie Sheila and decided to make a stop at this place.
We had a nice time as it was very sunny. It is quite a small park but you can easily spend 1 to 2 hours here. We saw some birds: mainly ducks and seagulls but also a stilt sandpiper. The boardwalk is well maintained and allows you to discover everything this park has to offer.
So if you are in the area do not hesitate to come visit this park. It might not be the best discoveries of all time, but it still offers a good break opportunity.

The boardwalk circles the park and allows for pleasant walking, with loads of opportunities for photos and bird watching. The air is cool and salty off the lower Miramichi Bay, in June it was pleasant watching fishing boats coming back in from their day at sea. We saw a red winged blackbird skirting around some bushes, and plenty of other shore loving birds. There are plenty of picnic spots and rest areas where visitors can take a break and enjoy the views. The park entrance has a wooded area that has all the scents and smells of a forest. After lunch in a local restaurant this park provided a couple of enjoyable of hours of healthy relaxation and lots of sun!

As far as I know this is the first part of the park before you go through the gates as you are crossing the causeway to get on Hay Island. Its interesting at either high or low tide. There are usually locals fishing or crabbing. keep the camera ready lots of quick pictures of birds and of course the sensory and light house. Visited before April 2014
