Steak and eggs here was the best my husband has ever had and my eggs Benedict was fantastic with the paprika on top a nice touch. They also serve tequila sunrises for breakfast - can’t get any better than that!

Here is a top notch organization. The course has been well documented as forgiving, well manicured and scenic. What makes The Wilderness worthy of a return visit is the staff. From the pro shop to the club cleaners, the staff are without comparison. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional. Everyone ! The weather could be my only complaint. Thank you to the people of The WildernessGC

Quite the golf course! This course lives up to its billing in every way as top in the state and 57th in the country! Top notch everything and in every way! Already have plans to do it again next year and add another weekend! I recommend it to everyone! With this, the Hotel and Casino, it’s a win, win in every way!

The course is in such a pretty setting. It really is a great course. They had some winter kill, but it was still in good shape. All the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We went out early and played in less than three hours. It is very long course, but given the beauty of the property, one cannot complain. We ate in the golf course restaurant and the walleye was outstanding. We are not all-you-can-eat crab buffet kind of people, but that crowd seemed very happy in the main dining area.
We stayed at the lodge, which was OK. The rates are extremely reasonable, but it is starting to look like it could be time for an update. The decor is a tad tired. Again, the staff was lovely! I have to say that the casino is one of the saddest facilities, that I have ever seen. They need to have some of the money from the gambling poured back into that building.

Thank you for visiting our property! We are glad you enjoyed our golf course even though we are not in the pristine conditions we are all used too. We lucked out with such a great footprint for our course and our architect did a great job showcasing our unique and strong features.
We appreciate your feedback on the lodging and casino as well. As facilities stay open for many years it is wise to put money back into the property. Fortune Bay has started to do some updates to their property this season.

First off let me say that wilderness golf course is a beautiful golf course always in great shape except this year Lots of winterkill is not only there a problem every golf course in northern Minnesota Giants Ridge all of them dead greens. They’re still on their spring rate but it’s not enough of a discount for me to recommend this year, give it a year maybe two it’s going to be in great shape again

Thank you for playing our course again. We did receive winterkill on our course like others in the area. We had a rough start but came out better than the majority in our area. The course has definitely progressed since we opened; however, we are not at 100% course conditions at this time of the year like we are all used too. Therefore, we have kept the lower rate. If you would like to see the progress we have made and continue to make you may check out :"Dodge's Dirt" on our website. It is where our course superintendent provides photos and detail about our course conditions. We hope you will return next year. Take care.

We went to play golf but the restaurants and the hotel were exceptional as well. This was one of my first times playing a MN golf course like this. WOW. Try the bar at the club house on Wed evenings, live music and good food.

Another one of the top public courses in Minnesota :) It was in perfect shape too. Scenery and golf of the highest level in the state. Staff and rangers were very friendly. Husband and daughter made a few spectacular birdies...guess I was just along for the ride...ha ha

While visiting friends who live on Lake Vermilion we had dinner at the Wilderness Grill at the Wilderness Golf Course. What a pleasant surprise. The views from the dining room are spectacular. Service was friendly and prompt. The menu is not extensive. However, the offerings cover a range that will meet all tastes. Each of us had a different entree and each one was a work of art when presented. The chef uses locally sourced meats and vegetables. Meats and fish were done to perfection. The wine list had several good mid range wines and was priced fairly. The dining room is part of the golf complex positioned well away from the casino. The grounds were neat and clean and the golf course looked ready to be on the cover of Golf Digest. For a location that is far off the beaten path in Northern MN it is well worth the drive whether you play golf or not.

Thank you for the wonderful compliments! I am glad to hear your dining experience at The Wilderness Grill was superb. Our menu is not extensive indeed but they do try to provide a couple tasty dishes to meet everyones unique tastes buds. Also, we have special dinner events each month if you are looking for something different. Sometimes they are informative such as our Night by the Smoker. Chef demonstrated each dish and guests took home the recipes! You can find our calendar of events on our website. If you are in the area next year check out our calendar and chef's new menu. One of my favorite places to golf I travel back to the area every summer just to play this course. If you ever get a chance to play make sure you do!! There is a casino on property of you like to gamble.
