A great place to get an understanding of the fishing and shrimping industry of years gone by. Very nice exhibits of a variety of maritime paraphernalia, and the innovations the fishing/canning industry adopted. I gained a greater appreciation of just how tough the life was for those who fished or canned along the Gulf Coast. You can visit in a short amount of time. Be sure to take time to watch the short video presentation in the upstairs theater of some old timer's recollections of their youth in working the seas.

We spent a perfect few hours, in perfect weather, comfortably sailing the bay, which is what we were hoping for... hence the Very Good rating.

We were also hoping for a bit more engagement and information from the captain and crew. While they were open to questions, they offered no description of our boat, nor talk of any local maritime history or local coastline... Given that this schooner sailing trip is part of the Maritime and Seafood Museum, we were frankly very surprised. Definitely room for improvement here.

I am so glad you enjoyed your sail, but I am sorry you did not receive information regarding the historic schooner or any other local maritime history. Can you please tell me what day you went sailing, so I know what Captain and crew were aboard? The Captain should be giving everyone information about our Biloxi Schooners and how they were used in the late 1800s, early 1900s to harvest seafood along the Gulf Coast. They were the work horse of the industry, they seined for shrimp and drudged for oysters. Appreciate your response so we can better our experience for our tourists. Thank you, Robin David

We arrived at the museum which is located on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico with the sun bouncing off the water. We saw all kinds of boats, a treasure trove of everything on a boat including shrimp trawls, anchors, boxes for crabs along with crab traps. There were outstanding photos from the past hundred years of the way people worked ( kids working as young as 6!). Our guide was quite knowledgeable and also entertaining. Don’t miss the hurricane movies of Camille and Katrina. Also outside are several different kinds of boats outside.

My husband is a retired Navy man so he really wanted to see this museum while we were in town. It’s a living testimate to years gone by. We enjoyed the film about the shrimping industry and the hurricane film/exhibits. Biloxi is changing every day but you have a fine little museum here so that it’s legacy is never forgotten.

The Maritime Museum is finally back on the Biloxi point. See the artifacts and history of the families who built the coast. They made it possible for you to eat that platter of great local seafood (look for the symbol). Shout out to the Fountain family history. Then see a great beach sunset!

This apparently a fairly new museum. It is neat, clean and well laid out. The highlight to me was the three films, especially the coverage of Katrina that was almost totally lacking in the National media. There is an entry fee, but it is not unreasonable. The only shortcoming was that there was no parking lot. You literally had to park on the grass across a sidewalk. Hopefully something can be done about that

Fantastic museum showing the industry of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Lots of video presentations and artifacts from the earlier days of commercial fishing.

Ireerved seats on the schooner 2 weeks before the date. Due to the Blues over Biloxi event, the parking was atrocious but we managed to get to the pier at 1:40pm(It was clearly stated that the schooner set sail at 2p.m.) We were being left at the dock. Understand that I had driven from Southwest Louisiana for this. The lady managed to put us on another boat but she wasn't very nice about it. The trip was absolutely wonderful but they need to be more clear about their time frames!
