this was a fantastic place to go, Rick is a character that makes you feel welcome whilst he insults you with humour. Unfortunately he is closing down at his present location, hopefully he will open at a new location

What a delightful day I had in the company of friends when we went to Rick's Country Shoppe , started off with Morning Tea which was perfect , browsed for hours , stopped shopping to have lunch , had the Home made Soup for Lunch which was lovely, Staff were attentive as we did laps around the rooms finding more treasures the more we looked , we each came out with purchases that we were more than happy with , luckily I didn't go over my luggage limit :) A step back to true customer service , can not say enough how much I loved my shopping experience

Birdcage lovers will know where the tag-line originates.
Just can't visit without leaving with something and can't visit the Blue Mountains without calling in to Rick Rutherford's Country. Today we made our pilgrimage and had the added pleasure of finding Rick hard at work and as always engaging and fun to talk with.
Again I found that 'must have' item which will now form another wonderful memory of a beautiful trip west. Don't sail down from your trip to Katoomba or Leura without stopping at Rick's shop in Lawson. Cross the rail lines at the lights and you are there. The shop represents themes of the season and also had a cafe.

This shop is amazingly decorated and you could spend hour upon hours browsing it. You could stay all day too because they have a beautiful little tea room and serve lunch.

My husband and I have been to Rick Rutherford"s adorable little shop many times . The staff are always lovely and ready to help. Rick himself is delightful , he makes you feel so welcome with his cheeky sense of humour and his great passion for his business. We have purchased many things whilst there and are very happy customers . Can't recommend highly enough a visit to this lovely place .

Called in for a 'look' ... wasn't left to browse. Staff kept prompting us if we wanted anything or to have tea / lunch. I appreciate the nice rooms and effort with the home made foods, but the conversation and attention was all a bit ..... intense.

I have been here before but on this occasion we called in for a coffee as no where else in Lawson was open. On hearing we wanted cappuccinos with soy milk the owner rolled his eyes at me and commented he didnt know how anyone could stand the taste /smell of soya milk , he then asked if I was lactose intolerant to which i replied i was vegan .When the coffee was served he continued to question me about what i ate ( I think he realised I may have been offended by his opening comments ) and though he tried to show some interest he couldnt help finishing off with more comments about how awful tofu was .I wonder if these remarks would have been made if I had food choices based on religious grounds .I could have replied with a few choice words on what I though of animal products but didnt want to ruin a day out with more unpleasantness .The shop is lovely and the house is a gem but the owner needs to keep his opinions to himself or risk offending potential customers -I might add that i have bought items for my home there in the past however after todays experience I wont be returning in a hurry .

Timed a visit from Bathurst to Glenbrook to allow for approx an hour at Rick Rutherfords (time to shop and a cup of tea). Checked website to ensure closing time of 5:30pm. Arrived approx 4:35 and browsed. Irish woman behind counter followed me out the back under the guise or rearranging tea towels to possibly check I wasn't stealing anything or to hurry me up. She advised me at 4:55 she would be closing the doors at 5pm. I offered the closing time of 5:30 on the website but as it was quiet one customer was apparently not enough to keep the doors open that additional half hour despite the fact I may have spent whatever. I would suggest phoning ahead just to check they are in fact open. I won't go back. I would have thought in this age of online shopping proprietors would be a little more consumer savvy.

Walk into another time zone or should I say zoneS ... beautifully appointed "Rooms" with different "themes" ... to enchant the most unchantable : )
Gifties for everyone, even decorating ideas or goodies to take away to decorate your own home or establishment - just Wonderful!

Rick is an absolute treasure, he is fun, a perfectionist and always cheeky. The tea house offers home made options which are delicious and great coffee. All around are beautiful Christmas, retro goodies and collectables at reasonable prices. The decorations and product arrangements are set out to perfection with many ' heart gifts' eg crockery, embroidery, bon bond etc. We loved Rick as the editor of Country Collections and he now provides retail and operates his coffee shop to his normal level - to perfection! Love Ric and live the shop - a visit is a must! 👯👯👯👯
