In December 2019, Sandstone burnt to the ground. It's a tragic loss, but it need to be noted. I see that it has been added to comments. It's very unfortunate because it was a truly cool place at one time.

Wanted to let all travelers know that this attraction no longer exists. It burnt to the ground. This may save some people from trying to visit it. It was a really nice place. Too bad.

Hopefully we will reopen in April for spring in temporary building while rebuilding. Temporary building will still be at same location

I have always looked forward to shopping at Sandstone Gardens twice a year while traveling to family in Ok City. I was so disappointed when the store burned down one day before we came through. This was really a highlight of our trips. We always found the employees very friendly. I bought an outdoor fountain which part of it broke during the winter. Found out I should have waterproofed it. Max had a replacement for us at no cost next time we came through. I miss Sandstone! Hope they rebuild!

I felt there was a huge amount of wasted space, along with an excessive selection of concrete lawn/garden statuary & fountains. I expected a very large inventory of home decor accessories, but less than about 1/10 of the building offered the type of merchandise. It was a very disappointing destination visit relative to what I expected to find after a 2-hour drive from Kansas City, MO. On the plus level, however, the Chicken Salad Sandwich I ordered in the venue's cafe was one of the very best I've ever eaten, and my traveling companion reported that his slice of Italian Coconut Cream Cake was even better than what his Italian mother used to whip up during my friend's childhood. By the way, since my visit to Sandstone Gardens just over a year ago, I'm told the building recently burned to the ground, although I've heard there are plans to rebuild. Don't make the trip without checking that situation.

Thank you for visiting, Sandstone Gardens has always been known for the extensive displays and one of the largest selections of home decor in the the Midwest! Many awards and magazine coverage for detailed product and visual displays, maybe you only went in the outside areas? Glad you did discover the bistro! Not sure why you waited a year to post your review?

My wife and I live in Springfield, MO, 80 miles away from Sandstone Gardens. We go there for outings because we love the Bistro. The people are wonderful and the food is great! However, the store staff is rude, unhelpful, and lack any appreciation for their visitors. We like to tour the decor area and have bought quite a few seasonal items there over the years. We bought an item there a week ago and when we got it home (again, 80 miles away), and my wife opened it, she found it was defective. She called the store and they said we have to return it and they would hold one so we could exchange. So, we drove the 80 miles today and the replacement item was also defective. They said we had to take a gift card and I refused and demanded a refund. Why would I want a gift card for a store that is 80 miles away and which, after this experience, I will probably never go to again? The manager was very unsympathetic and callous and I felt insulted and totally unappreciated. Guess they think they can manage without their customer's money. They won't get any more of mine.

Norman, do you always threaten stores to get your way? Your heading in your review reflects your behavior in the store, the review is both misrepresenting and self serving.
Your wife was told to return the merchandise by
Mail or in person, she asked for one to be put back to pick up Saturday. Your “ disgruntlement” over driving 80 mi was your own choice. Did you think the merchandise didn’t need to be returned?
We certainly appreciate our customers and their loyalty, Sandstone tries to welcome and strive to please and accommodate customers. We respect your decision not to return and sincerely hope you find places that are enamored by your bullish behavior. Respect and courteous behavior goes both ways

Oh my! Have you ever been in a Paul Michaels shop? Well, if you have (and it is awesome), but Sandstone is 10 times more impressive than a Paul Michael’s! (I can’t believe I’m saying that, cause I thought Paul Michaels was over the moon! The 5500 sg ft house is beyond beautiful, with so many beautiful and UNIQUE gifts for sale. The restaurant is truly a jewel & a must visit! Do not miss this outstanding treasure! You won’t be disappointed!

Something magical around every curve and corner...room after room..garden after garden. The 'Jane Austen-look girl', hedgehog couple, and Puss and Boots 'cat with attitude' were favorite concrete statuary. Taking husband up soon to help us decide on addition for our yard. Holiday decorations and kitchen goodies not found in the chain stores. What a treasure. HINT: friend tells me the buildings and grounds at Christmas are memorable. On my calendar.

We had a wonderful time on our trip to sandstone! Great food and great service in the Bistro. I loved shopping after lunch as well. The prices on the statuary were very reasonable! Would love to have it all! 😊
