I’ve tried other trails at this park that were ok, but the Woodland trail was our worst hiking experience ever and it’s not even close. I went in wearing permethrin coated pants and 15% deet. The trail is so overgrown that we were regularly walking through knee to waist high grasses and lots of poison ivy. All of us came out covered in hundreds of tiny ticks. If you insist on doing this trail, coat yourself in deet, then wear permethrin coated clothes and boots, with pants duck taped to boots. Take clean clothes and plan to shower at the campground bathhouse (can’t review those as we didn’t bring change of clothes). Campground area looks nice, and some of the trails by it are nice.

We enjoyed our hike here. We saw deer. It was quiet, we could see the lake and got a good workout. It wasn't super strenuous and very enjoyable. We did the Rocky Top Trail. It was excellent!

We planned our vacation for over a year. Rented an outpost cabin number 3. Roaches on our food ladder in our beds and my wife and daughter were bit by them. The state park didn't care......look at photos to see communication or lack of from state officials.....

Nice big state park with many campsites, some with electric hookup. Site 3 is fairly level. Fill up with water on the way in and dump on the way out. Sites have a picnic table and fire pit. Camp hosts are friendly. Camp store has a variety of goods. Several hiking trails in the park. Bathrooms are clean. Washers and dryers available but I don’t recommend. Just outside the park is Parkside Laundry in Kaiser MO which is super clean. Small playground, marina and beach. Spent a week here in mid-May. Very peaceful. Close to Osage Beach area and many stores, restaurants, bars, etc.

We were in the area for a shooting competition and wanted inexpensive accommodations. We decided to camp at the nearby State Park. It did not disappoint. The prices were great and the campground was clean and well maintained. The only disappointment was many of the people in neighboring campsites had no respect for others. Loud music and laughter at all hours, which was especially annoying after 10 pm. We were never given clear directions upon arrival, so we didn't know that we couldn't get wood later in the evening. We had to run into town, which isn't too far and pick up wood from the Hy-Vee. We'd stay here again if back in the area. The restrooms were decent, but unsure of how frequently they were cleaned. The wildlife was abundant in the park as we saw many deer throughout our stay.

This is a large (200 +/- sites) campground in proximity to Lake of the Ozarks. The mostly asphalt sites are off asphalt access roads with a mixture of back in and pull through spots. Most sites are not level either front to back, and/or side to side. This is a fill your water tank on the way in, and dump your holding tanks on the way out place. No included cable tv, no included WiFi, very few OTA stations (no national networks), and because it is so heavily treed - almost no chance for satellite reception. Verizon cell service was very weak. The dated showers are fiberglass (2 per gender) with plenty of hot water - however the shower head seems to be designed for someone <5’!

This was a nice place to visit and commune with nature while staying in Osage Beach on the Lak e of The Ozarks. It was a short drive from where we stayed, although we had some difficulty finding it. Our GPS had no idea where it was (though it claimed to) and it could have been better marked. However, with the use of a paper map supplied by our resort, we did manage to find it.
Admission is free and there are a number of nice beaches and trails. We hiked the Fawn's Ridge Trail and a bit of the Lake View Bend Trail.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park is a beautiful park with a lot of outdoor activities. Many hikes with stunning settings are nearby. They offer yurts in their campgrounds which are a nice way to camp without having a camper, and you don’t have to sleep on the ground in a tent. Definitely will go back again.

We spent two nights at Lake of the Ozarks State Park and have to say it’s on my list of favorite campgrounds. We had electric hook-ups. We were in campsite 140 and even though it wasn’t a lakeside campsite, the views was beautiful. Look for campsites in section 4 close to the lake. We brought our paddle board and paddled around the lake, others were kayaking. In a couple of weeks the leaves will be spectacular. A lot of the area businesses were closed due to lack of help. I highly recommend this park.

Are golf carts allowed within park? i have MS and can walk but only short distances.

is there a separate fee for park entrance as well as cave tours? if only interested in cave (no camping,etc.) is there still an entrance fee to park itself?

No entrance fee to our State Parks. There would be a seperate campsite fee, if you want to camp. Check out their website for more information.

What all is there to do that would be appropriate for a toddler at or around this park? We are considering a visit here because of an adult with a strong interest in caves, but would like a place with some programs or activities that are good for small children.

Considering staying in a cabin. Would be traveling in our RV, a 24’ class A converted van. Would we be ok to park it at the cabin? Would not need any hook ups for it, it’s just comfortable transportation, and a respite from potential bad weather.

Have never camped at Lake of Ozarks and would like to see highlights of Ozark and Ha Ha Tonka over 2 1/2 day weekend. Tent camping at Ozark and looking for advice on great sites as well.

Make sure you check out mostateparks website for a lot of additional info for Lake of the Ozark State Park. Maps of the sites, etc. and the amenities available at the different campsites.
