A lot of history

Hard to find but worth it. Lot of construction around the site. Previous headquarters of TWA . Volunteers, who are former employees escort you through the different rooms, exhibits and planes. Didn't know Howard Hughes owned the airline and Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart flew for them. Should easily be in the top ten sites to see in KC.

A Wonderful Experience and Educational

If you like Aviation and history, this TWA Museum is a must! The tours are given by volunteers who are past and retired TWA employees. Ours was Warren and he made aviation and TWA history come alive for us. Be sure to ask for someone to assist you with the flight simulator!! The instructor will introduce you to the controls, gauges, and basically how to fly using instruments. The screens are SO REAL you will actually get sensations of virtual flight from the pilot seat. So cool.
(NOTE: The area around the Museum is currently under road construction. Follow the signage for the airport, but the Museum is in Hanger #1, close to the new bridge. But that tan brick building is NOT labeled. Turn in for Hanger #2, but turn left, not right.)

We got an interesting private tour. The museum is a bit cluttered, but lots of thing to see. The guide we had definitely knew about the company & had a lot of fun stories he intertwined with the history.

Great hidden gem!

What a great museum! We visited mid week and the museum was not very busy, everyone from our guide, the other volunteers in the museum to the people running concession were friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful! The displays are fascinating and beautifully displayed. Their are several interactive displays which are a lot of fun. I highly recommend!

Criminally underfunded gem

This is a volunteer-based facility at the old Kansas City airport. I find it staggering that such an important piece of local if not national history can only continue to exist on the basis of donations and goodwill.

The building is original and there are aircraft that luminaries like Howard Hughes and Chuck Yeager personally flew. I flew over from England to visit and it was worth it. An absolute gem amongst aviation museums and wonderful, wonderful staff members. Really America: enjoy this while you can.

Fly away with TWA

Stopped by this small museum and really enjoyed it. It will take you about an hour to see and is worth the stop if you at all interested in airlines and airplanes.

Great private tour of the history of TWA from Howard Huges to Carl Icahn. Lots of stuff to see and a simulator to fly! We’ll worth it

Great displays and guided tour

Stopped into the TWA museum which is located at a real working private airport. Greeted right away by two friendly front desk people that explained the layout of the museum, took our money, and got a guy from the back for a personal tour through training rooms with simulators, a full size hanger with planes inside.
Then we worked back to the rather small museum, but had so much to look at. Very small gift shop. Friendly place, lots of parking. Would definitely refer people to this tour.

Cool museum for those who like to fly.

We spent more than 2 hours here as we were provided with a tour guide (as part of the $10 entrance fee), who explained in great detail about the planes, uniforms, routes, and more. I’m not a fanatical airplane guy, yet I enjoyed the many details about how the airline industry changed so much since TWA’s early days to its buyout by American Airlines.
