Outdoor stadiums are great. Baseball, more than any other sport, should be played outside. But it takes a real die-hard fan to sit and watch one in the rain. Fortunately for me and my friends it didn't rain hard enough to postpone the game. Cool HOF on the premises. Horrible online ticket experience reduces the rating though

We attended a weekday afternoon game here during opening week. While the park is older, it still shines. The fountains in the outfield are a nice touch. The food options were plentiful and very good. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The Team Store was well stocked and had a nice selection of items, including for the KC Monarchs. The parking lot is HUGE. We had great weather and a lovely day at the ballpark--what more can one ask?

This is a beautiful park. We went to a Monday afternoon game, so there were not many people there, which was awesome! Our seats were great. Vendors were friendly. Prices comparable to other ballparks. The only bummer is that we could not watch the players at batting practice or try for autographs, which would have totally made my boys’ day.

Easy to get to & just outside the city itself. Not much to see or do in surrounding areas adjacent to stadium. Stadium itself is clean & cozy. Not like some cavernous fields of other MLB teams. Food is standard fare w standard prices. Tickets usually reasonable depending on foe. Enjoyable place to spend a day at a ballgame & will go again when visiting Kcity.

Together with it's next door neighbor Arrowhead stadium they make a great complex. Kauffman Stadium is the nicest baseball stadium I've been to and there are several.

Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City was built specifically for baseball during an era when building multi-sport "cookie cutter" stadiums was commonplace, as in St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. Opened in 1973 and named for Ewing Kauffman, the founder and first owner of the Kansas City Royals, it is the sixth oldest stadium in the major leagues and often considered along with Dodger Stadium (1962) in Los Angeles as one of the best examples of modernist stadium design. It is part of the Truman Sports Complex together with the adjacent Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. From 1966 to 1991, it was the only baseball-only park built in the major leagues. The park's best known feature is the fountain and waterfall display, known as the Water Spectacular, behind the right field fence. At 322 feet, it is the largest privately funded fountain in the world. It is on display before and after the game and between innings while the waterfall is constantly flowing. With a capacity of 37,930, it is the smallest stadium in the major leagues. But it remains one of the most attractive. Four statues lay out in the outfield concourse behind the fountains. Three are located in right field--George Brett, Dick Howser and Frank White. The fourth, Ewing Kauffman and his wife Muriel, is located in left field. Since 2007, the Royals placed a red seat in the stadium amongst the all-blue seats behind home plate to honor former Negro League legend Buck O'Neil.

Always enjoy going to a royals game. Parking is steep at 30 but whatever. Park is beautiful and sight lines good all around.

My wife and I went to a Kansas City Royals game on Thursday, Sep. 30. We had traveled by car from Ohio and this was one of the activities on our trip. We stayed at a Motel right across the street from the Stadium since we are in our 70s and did not want the hassle of driving and trying to park at the stadium. Knowing how strict security is at the ballparks these days, I visited their website RIGHT BEFORE THE GAME to see the rules. Here's a direct quote from the site: "Each fan may carry one clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bag no larger than a 12 x 12 x 6 inches or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar). " My wife's purse is about that size and is vinyl, so we thought it would be ok but that she would have to open it so the contents could be examined. It turns out that you have to cross an extremely busy 4 lane road with no stop light or sign, and that you walk over 1/4 mile to get to the gates on a pretty steep downhill road. My wife fractured her kneecap into 3 pieces some years ago, so we try to avoid hills. As we were approaching the gate, a security guy came out quickly to meet us and asked if we had tickets (we had seen the ticket window just before the gate). I told him we did, and then he said we could not go into the ballpark because my wife could not take her purse in. I told him her purse fir the dimensions on the website and he said the 12 x 12 only applied to CLEAR plastic and that her purse would have to be no bigger than 9 x 5 to take it in. I told him that was NOT what their own website said and he told me that we were not going in with that purse. So we got to hike all the way back up and across to leave the purse and then hike back for the game. I was wearing a Cleveland Indians baseball cap (we live in Cleveland) so I don't know if he singled us out because of that. Either he was brutally incompetent about the rules posted on their website, or vicious, or if he was right about the rules, then the Kansas City Royals are incompetent to post accurate rules at their website. Why did he first ask me if I had tickets and THEN tell me we couldn't go in? How many ladies do you know who would dump the contents of their vinyl purse into a clear plastic bag to go to a public outing? The real tragedy is that every other employee with whom we interacted at the ballpark was amazingly friendly and helpful, but this one jerk ruined what would have been a great experience.

Both the Royals and the Chiefs Stadiums share a parking lot and sit side by side, so one can see both from the outside. Both are lovely structures and demand a visit, even if unable to attend a game.

Beautiful ballpark. We went to a night game and loved all the fountains that light up.
The staff was great and all very helpful as we tried to find our seats. Parking was easy and I loved being able to purchase parking online. We had the most delicious dessert skewer. It was chocolate covered strawberries and brownies. Oh so sinful!! I was disappointed with the hotdog we had. Usually hot dogs at the ballpark are amazing, this feel short for me. Would have loved to have a corndog too.

We had amazing seats and such an enjoyable time. We are from Iowa and only a 2 1/2 hour drive away. We will definitely be back.
