Something to always remember
2019年5月
As generations succeed one another, a knowledge and reverence of the Holocaust is paramount, less history repeats itself. As an advocate that has toured Dachau (later learned my Grandfather was the 2nd wave in liberation of Dachau), and visited other Holocaust Museums in Europe and the US, this Museum and Learning Center is vibrant with research, first hand accounts, and exhibits. What I like best is, it's just not about the past. They also have an ethos to educate about their causes and illustrating how what happened during this tragic period relates to our lives today. They way the see it, while learning Holocaust history is the key to understanding its roots, they have another duty: to empower visitors to make the world a kinder, safer, more tolerant place by rejecting all forms of hate, intolerance, racism, and bigotry. Amen.

Incredible museum

Important, thought provoking, heartbreaking, not words I would normally use to describe a museum but they all apply to this excellent little known St. Louis treasure. We got there just before a guided tour started for a group of folks who generously invited us to join their tour. Our docent, Amy, was excellent. We want to go back to do the self-guided audio tour because we didn’t have time to read everything. If you want to go though Be sure you do it before it closes in May of 2020 for a year long renovation.

We arrived on a sunday and was able to participate in a guided tour. Diane Peach was very informative and knowledgable of the history. We learned so much at this solemn place. Highly recommended if you are in the area. The museum is free but funded from donations.

Holocaust Survivors and St. Louis
2019年12月
While many of the exhibits will be familiar to those who have visited Holocaust museums in other cities, this museum provides a focus on St. Louis residents who were, and/or their ancestors who were, holocaust survivors. A small museum a detour to visit despite its slightly parochial focus.

Moving Experience

Highly recommend a visit to this remarkable museum. Words cannot express the emotion one finds within the walls of this amazing establishment. We should never forget mankind's ability to self destruct, so fortunate to have the Holocaust Museum in St. Louis.

So moving and tastefully done! It took 3 hours to go thru on our own, reading every display and watching every film. Absolutely beautifully done. I so want to go back for a guided tour! The headphones cost $2, or you can go without. The Museum is free with a donation box as you leave. Wonderful!

Awesome opportunity
2019年11月
My 87 year old friend and I visited the museum for the first time. He personally knew one of the survivors who lived in Granite City, Illinois after the war. This made it even more interesting to see pictures of him at the museum. Both of us commented about what a wonderful job the museum did of depicting what happened during that horrible time. How it was even possible that such a large number of people followed Adolf Hitler’s crazy beliefs still amaze us. The museum is suitable, in my opinion, for ages 12 and older. It would truly help if the younger ones knew some of the details. The really graphic pictures are covered up to be viewed if chosen and there are signs to let you know they are graphic. The lobby area has a large display of Jewish actors, writers, Nobel prize winners, musicians etc. from all eras with pictures and tells of their accomplishments. We did not use a tour guide or the audio tour. We read the signs by the displays and we were very happy with seeing the museum that way. We spent over 2 hours at the museum. Free of charge and also free parking is a nice perk.

Group Tour is worth it

I was spending the weekend in St Louis and decided to stop by for the guided tour on Sunday. While we went over the advertised time (about three hours instead of an hour and 15 minutes) we all were glued to the presentation and wanted to continue. The exhibits are excellent illustrations and the audio portions are informative. Having an actual guide lead us through took the experience over the top. He was extremely knowledgeable and taught me much more than I ever learned in a history course! Survivors actually contribute (and sometimes lead tours) at the museum! A must see if you are interested in this era of history!

There are some disturbing images, but I would still classify this as a kid-friendly stop.

Incredible

When we got to the destination (per Google Maps) we were confused because the place is not just the museum, it is mostly office space. You have to be buzzed in and sign in at the desk. After that it is an amazing experience. I was concerned with the size of the museum being a little smaller, but there were a lot of facts, there were quite a few artifacts, pictures and stories, and my favorite were the recordings both video and audio to enjoy from survivors! Definitely worth going to see!

Everyone Must See
2019年2月
This beautifully curated and teacher-led museum is an essential visit for every person on the planet. We must remember what was done so that we may do everything possible to avoid it ever happening again. Its objects, photos, and explanations provide a clear, terrifying view of the Holocaust -- it is truly a learning Center, no matter how much you already know about the time.
