The ladies who work here are super nice! I'm not a huge music buff but I found the displays interesting and our son really enjoyed all the history. There is a very nice Gift Shop. We were able to park nearby. The restaurant next-door is awesome!

my wife and i stopped in here wile in town for a short visit. its in the downtown area just a few blocks away from the arch. overall is was something to do for an hour, we found the museum small but interesting . i liked the interaction exabits especially the jug band one where you could play with the interments and hear the sound you made.
the video short but to the point was worth watching, had a lot of story boards to read . i did not go through them all i guess i just lost interest after the 12th one. or maybe did not want to read anymore is more like it. the display items were nice to see as well as the pictures that were there.
what this place is lacking is having actual items from the people who are being talked about. not much here in that regard. i did not feel like we overpaid. it was worth the time and money we spent to go here. i just felt it was average in every way.

I agree with both sides of the spectrum on these reviews. Is this a great museum? Yes! Is it small and could this be far more in depth? Yes. But I don’t regret going.
This museum is more to teach newbies the basics, to encourage interest in those who aren’t familiar with the blues and jazz. The blues really is the bedrock of pretty much any music, and a lot of people don’t realize that. This is a jumping off point.
The exhibits aren’t deep or extensive, but they are well laid out, organized, colorful, and introduce the big players, like Ma Rainey, Muddy Waters, Louis Armstrong, B.B. King, and more. There is a clear line between the African roots of the blues all the way to the blues artists of today.
The tickets for adults are 14 dollars. It took me probably about 40 minutes because I’m well versed in the jazz and blues. The employees were all super nice. There are a lot of fun interactive exhibits, one of which allows you to compose your own blues song.
It’s not the Mecca of blues or anything, but it’s worth supporting.

I am not necessarily a big blues fan but after visiting the museum my interest has grown. I was surprised to learn that the Blues are the basis of many other genre including rock & roll and classical.
Debra greets the guests warmly and is source of info on the museum. it is an easy museum to walk though and not overly crowded. Debra informed us of a free concert held at the museum each Thursday for 6-9PM. It was fantastic! A variety of groups performing in a friendly atmosphere. A highly recommended stop and be certain to attend to the concert !

If you are a blues fan, this is not to be missed. If you are a walker, you can walk from the Arch to this place. If you love barbq, Sugarfire is right next door and you get a discount for eating there first. They get 4 because the audio wasn't working that day.

I really enjoyed this museum. The exhibits look really great and the history is interesting. They have some fun interactive activities, even for a grown guy. For a good day in St Louis, I'd recommend doing the arch in the late morning, leave your car there and walk to lunch at the BBQ place next door to this museum, Sugarfire, and use the museum discount they give you. Spend maybe 90 mins at the museum and catch some free live music in the evening.

This museum displayed beautifully the history of blues and its influence and all popular music. A beautiful tribute to talented people.

This museum was located at the corner of hotel. Really enjoyed it! Gives a good history of the blues. Really cool photos and artifacts. Stop by these little stations as you go through to create your own blues album. Neat little thing. Gift shop is really cool. Side note... don't buy the pop in the gift shop if you plan on drinking it after you leave unless you have a bottle opener. It does not twist off. We learned the hard way when we got back to the hotel.

I don't think there are bands on Mondays but I would check the website. There is a calendar and contact info for the museum.
