Not if you are just taking personal photos or pictures of your family. They do charge if you are working as a professional photographer taking photos of someone who is paying you.

The date has varied every year for the past 10 years... Generally the Yoshinos and Higan Weeping forms bloom the first week of April and the double pom Kwanzans bloom the 2nd-3rd week of April. The blooms have come and gone as early as March 15, but this year, I suspect the best color will occur after April 15. The Kwanzan and Dogwood blooms are still pretty tight and I hope have not been damaged by recent freezes. Depending on the weather, I think April 20 - May 13 should be the best time to catch some spring color.

New for 2017, we plan to be open daily starting in April - October. The gardens are closed daily for the season November - March.

Professional Photographers who use the garden as a set and charge customers a fee are required to carry a photo pass. $25/Daily or $150/seasonal passes can be purchased at the Botanical Center. If you are just taking pictures for fun, enjoy!

The Japanese Garden is only 7.5 acres of the 114 acre park. This attraction is very pretty in April - May with Cherries, dogwoods, azaleas and spring blooms. It also has nice water features that are great in summer and fall foliage. The entire park is best April-May and September.

Leashed dogs are welcome in any of the grounds of the park. We ask that only service dogs come inside the Botanical center/ welcome building.

There is a $3 fee and it has not changed in 30 years. It takes a lot to maintain these gardens and the fee at any similar facility in a 500 mile area is substantially more.
