Enjoyed the whole experience,went by ferry and had a lovely day out,smashing old world village and pubs,super seafront walk.fo not know where previous reviewer went,NO dog poo whatsoever !, a very unfair review.dpot on place do not hesitate to visit

BLUEBELL cottage caravan site rosslyn Ave presall we have just stayed at bluebell for 28 nights and it is one of knott ends secret hideaways it is beautiful cheap and very clean with perfect facilities. Knott end has some of the best little shop's including butchers, kays chippy, bakery, Amy's cafe, golf ⛳ and lot's more, It also has a lovely walk on perfectly flat ground along the sea defense of about 5 miles with views across to cumbria

Nice to see the statue, which cannot be missed, located just at the end of the jetty where LS Lowry painted the ferry in the 1950s.

The Matchstick Man and his dog, is a fitting tribute to the great artist, in his somewhat less familiar surroundings. I feel sure that he found just as much interest in the life of people getting on and off the ferry, as he did in his more well known industrial scapes and a much healthier place to be, than the grime of the cotton mills. The first year apprentices have done a great job, fabricating the sculpture and they should be deservedly proud of their efforts. It is a great place to stand and stare.

Have not been to Knott End for some time however saw the addition of the LS Lowry statue. So decide to visit and have a lunch at the cafe. Parking was easy as the car park behind is free just make sure you park in the designated spaces.
Walked into the sea wall and was within minutes of the statue. A lovely peace of art work and a good description on who made it. The placing is great as it’s if Lowry is walking to the pier to catch a ferry with his little dog with the cobbles under his feet.
For those not familiar with Knott End. It’s a small village which has a few shops but one of the best views across to the Western Fells of the Lake District and Barrow in Furness / Grange. A promenade to walk down with a sandy / seaweed beach with very large Victorian houses . However the pub was shut which is the Bourne Arms and I am not sure whether it is open. The place is a bit worn but still has a nice seaside feel.
We ate in the cafe which is reasonably priced and being in the same family ownership since the 1940’s and the food was good with a nice seafood chowder which you don’t see often. All day breakfast is a available in full, big and lite versions!
I would recommend a visit just for the bracing sea air or a ferry ride to Fleetwood.
Don’t expect lots but it’s a nice place to visit for an hour or two.

I have never come across such a disgustingly filthy place full of dog poo. It was like walking through a minefield. No views could be taken in because of having to constantly watch feet. The ferry from Fleetwood was the only good thing about the trip.

I was looking to have my Sunday morning breakfast by the sea and could have easily gone to the South Shore but decided I needed something different and I certainly got it. First it was a very cold November morning but a beautiful deep blue sky. I found the cafe I was looking for which served great food and superb friendly service in a picturesque part of this area, great vistas plus you can get a ferry to Fleetwood or visa versa to get here. To be far a longish ride or drive if your staying in the North/South shore area but for me it was worth it!

This Lowry sculpture is located right at the seafront at Knott End at the ferry approach. It’s clear that this is intended to depict matchstalk man and matchstalk dog. Nice to see

this is a representation of l s lowry who used to visit here often and paint . it is a matchstalk man and dog in stainless steel and a very nice depiction of him.
