I really wanted to go to the burning man. It has been my dream for years. So in 2023 I finally decided to go. Bad luck I guess but, in my experience, the event is just a mayor rip off. I paid an out outrageous amount of money and I never received the tickets. They clearly state that if you do not have the phisical tickets with you, you cannot enter, and you might as well not bother showing up. So what do they do? They just don´t send the tickets. I had zero assistance and no answer to my many messages, A kid birthday party is better organized than this thing. Just pathetic.

Festival originale.

We had the opportunity to join a camp, this year. I was concerned aobut the amount of people there, but shouldn't have been. It's 7 square miles of Playa and the equivilant of the city of San Francisco. It's layed out beautifly and is a true city, one that exists only one week a year. The art instalations are amazing, the things to do endless and the loving, positive attitude of everyone iswhat we all need. It's completely off the grid, so we can divorce ourselves from the outside world and live in the Burn. A life changing experience and like nothing else.

I cannot even begin to describe my love for this annual gathering. As I write this review, I have an ear to ear grin on my face as I am going home for my 7th time in a row.
I would encourage you to get one of books handed out to participants as they enter the site. This will give you a good scope of the events being held.
Choose what is of interest to you and then dare yourself to go bigger. Push your limits and be uncomfortable. Find comfort in your discomfort. This is probably the safest place to experiment as the community will catch you if you fall.
You name it, it is here. Live a little. Check out the film, "Spark" if you would like to see this from the comfort of your home. But trust me, you will want to go as no book or film will really help you understand what this event is about.
Welcome home.

If after hearing about Burning Man you have a strong desire to attend - here is my advice, based on attending every year since 2002.
You are going to be a resident in a temporary community for a week or so, and there will be interesting things going on 24 hours a day. In my experience, first timers have a better time if they put considerable effort in to preparation. Having said that, you will have a much better experience if you focus your preparations on dealing with the challenging physical environment. The Black Rock desert is beautiful, but it can be quite tough on people. Read up on how to deal with the challenges of this physical environment - it is super dry, dusty, no shade, wild extremes of temperature, and often has strong winds. Nothing is provided by the organization except for portable toilets.
Don't attempt to prepare for the psychological environment. All you need for that is an open mind.
In any case, you are likely to be surprised by the generosity of the people you meet, and you will want to bring gifts to share. The nature of those gifts may vary considerably - for example art, crafts, commodities, performance, costume, or volunteering to help with an art project in preparation for the event. Keep in mind that a guiding principle for this even is that everyone is a participant. You will have a lot more fun if you bring your creatively to share.
Now days it is hard to get a ticket. If you want to attend in 2019, it is time to start preparing, and time to start looking into how to get a ticket. If you have friends that have attended recently, ask for their advice.
Note that there are already thousands of people preparing for the 2019 burn including organizing their camps, working on art projects, and building art cars.

A magnificent view of Fly Geyser. Reservation necessary to visit ranch area and the Geyser. The spirit of the Northern Paiute Tribe fills one with history of the Great Basin, freedom and love of our Earth. A bucket-list not to miss

I keep a log of my travel experiences and have 285 logged trips for nearly six years of week-long+ trips to give you an idea of my experiences. I have spent the night in the Ice Hotel in Sweden and stood on top major mountains. I point this out to say that there is absolutely nothing like ... Burning Man! When I breathe my last breaths in life I will remember Burning Man for sure. It is an absolute lifetime butket list suggestion for those who are edgy, and a sense of adventure, can survive in dust, and are not offended by nudity. The art is crazy and presented in square miles of dry lakebed and unlike anything you have seen. If you have seen the movie "Electric Horseman" think of it as 50,000 Electric Horsemen. But you need a survival guide. Here are my suggestions:
1. You MUST have bikes for everyone. Cheap Walmart cruisers are perfect.
2. Decorate your bikes with gaudy flashing LED's for sure. Be an electric horseman too.
3. Try to find a group to join.
4. RV's are the first-class way to go (you can find pumping services but conserve water). Bring extra water.
5. Use all the sun protection techniques that you can. The sun tries to kill you.
6. Lighten up and show some skin. Join in.
7. Bring a cup to carry with you. There are free alcoholic beverages but only if yo have a cup.
8. Bring many dust masks.
9. Bring goggles. Consider 'cool' goggles.
10. Bring ear plugs. If you are close to techno music it can cause insanity after three days. I hear that the Russians use it for torture.
11. Find where to purchase ice at the event. There are two locations.
12. Go out at night for the ... night life.
13. See both the man burn as well as the temple burn. There is nothing like it on earth.
14. Don't piss and moan about the traffic either in or out. It is just the cost of doing Burning Man business.
15. Bring wild clothing. Whatever you bring will be outclassed by others.
16. Bring chairs for you and guests.
17. Bring extra fuel for your generator.
18. Get nude in front of others and don't miss the mixed gender shower by foam and spray hoses.
19. Bring something to share.
20. Plan on helping others.
21. Try to buy tickets one second after the first sale. Good luck.
Enjoy!

I’m UK based and would go this year or next - is there a way with a burner profile or just getting a ticket and going? 🏜 or does it just sell out and is hard work?

I live in London and Burning man is on my bucket list, ive read a few articles about whats required and how to go about it but it just seems like there is so many things. Is there anyone on here from the UK who has done Burning man that can tell me the process and rough cost of everything?

Best thing to do is to join a “theme camp” by going onto the Burning Man website or searching for BM theme camps. They have “directed” tickets and will have the infrastructure of the camp set up. You will need to volunteer your time to help with camp activities, food prep, etc..

Visit the Burning Man website and study their site. Great pictures, ticket instructions and stories about the event. Create a "Burner Profile" - costs nothing to create it. And sign up for their e-newsletter Jack Rabbit Speaks. In answer to your question, the ticket only allows you to enter and be on site. You bring everything you need to survive for a week.

Not completely. There are groups that are working on making the event more wheelchair accessible. The dust is so fine I'd fear damage would be done to a power chair thus making you more reliant to the assistance of friends.

Advance ticket purchase is required. NO TICKETS ARE SOLD AT THE EVENT.
