If you are in Tonapah, this is definitely worth a visit. It is next to a even creepier clown motel, with a clown museum. Which is supposed to be haunted on top of all that. The victims of the Belmont Mine fire of February 1911. It is a old west cemetery with a monument to the miners who perished in Tonapah, Nevada.

We were more interested in the Goldfield pioneer cemetery than the newer cemetery which are located next to each other. While it was interesting to see some of the dates on the pioneer cemetery we were a bit disappointed that all of the headstones have been redone apparently at the time the cemetery was moved to its current location. However it was good to see that they kept some of the humor and other facts noted on the headstones.

I just stopped here going through goldfield. There were some interesting grave stones here. I saw multiple deaths by gunshot and one that died eating library paste. I had to find somebody to ask about this. Apparently a vagrant was coming through town. He looked in the library trash for something to eat. He found library paste and ate it. Problem was library paste back then had arsenic in it it, this is how he found. His place in the cemetery. Also weird is that somebody keeps the grave freshly painted in red letters?

Located just outside of Goldfield, this cemetery is a lot bigger then I expected. Now I understand that a cemetery really isn't a "tourist destination" but the history of the cemetery is interesting. Ask people in town about it. I promise, they won't think your weird. Maybe a lot of people ask about it. This is still a functional cemetery too.

Interesting how so many people died in such a short window. Gives real perspective on how hard life was.

Was very interesting to see. Many of the graves told how the person came to pass. Was an excellent experience, wish we could have spent more time there.

Have visited this cemetery over the years. First visit there was a single fenced burial next to the exterior fence. Last resting place for a Madam. Last visit, she had company. Don't know the history of her neighbors.
Cemetery itself is sectioned off into faiths and burial societies. And then there is the area of relocated graves. That section, far to the south west, is definitely worth a visit. Read the explanation, I won't tell the background, go check it out yourself. Hard to believe the Goldfield of that time, but it must have been a real city.
There are many children buried here. At one time I asked if there had been an epidemic or something to carry off so many little ones. Was told it was just a hard life, and many did not make it. One who did not, was Joy. Check out her headstone, in the first area to the north when entering the cemetery.

Just an old cemetery. It is broken down by sections for different churches, or organizations. Looks like some of the sites were re-done in the recent past, and others with new wooden markers. Lots on the early 1900's

Cimitero di Goldfield storico e molto antico. Classico stile di cimitero americano consiglio di fare un passaggio veloce per visitarlo. Nulla di eccezionale.

There are several different cemeteries here. One is Catholic, and there is one general one, and there are two different ones toward the back. The public one was the most interesting. The way the graves are laid out and the crosses that have been added for those that have not made it through the years. The local historical society is researching many of these people and are providing additional info, including cause of death on special plaques mounted on the crosses. Everything from fires, drowning, gunshots and mine accidents join still births, heart failure and pneumonia as causes of death. This brings more of a perspective to the graves and those buried there.
