State of New Hampshire Bridge No. 32 - In its namesake village, the Groveton Bridge is the only covered bridge remaining. The bridge was constructed by Captain Charles P. Richardson (1806–1894) and his son out of native spruce cut from nearby Cape Horn Mountain and milled by lumberman George W. McKellips (1826–1908) at his Groveton sawmill.

This is still a nice bridge to see, but could use a paint job. We had rain starting so didn’t stay long. Easy to find and take a look at.

A cute covered bridge, in need of a paint job, which oddly enough, gives it the old timey feel. Walking only. Closed to car traffic. A train engine/caboose nearby that you’re able to climb upon. A bench nearby the water allows you to take in the scenery

Touring New Hampshire, we tried to revisit a lot of covered bridges, waterfalls, and other sights. A lot of the bridges have a brown sign indicating the bridge number. Watch for the signs. This is number 32. The address is Main Street (which is route 3) at the junction of route 10. This bridge is now closed but when it was in use it was vehicles only, no foot traffic. There are a couple of picnic tables available inside the bridge and parking areas on both ends. An old train car sits nearby.

My friend and I decided to take a drive while the rest of the group golfed and hiked. Again. Not to worry, there's a lot to see when you don't even plan! Headed north on Route 16 without a game plan but did have a map. After a few stops we happened upon this old gem of a bridge. Turned around and found a place to park so we could walk through, which we did. I had never seen a bridge built such as this one which made it more interesting. On the other side is an old train engine with a caboose. No information anywhere regarding the bridge, so we took some pictures and walked back through the bridge which I think crossed the Upper Ammomoosuc River. Not sure if this is correct. I'm sure someone will straighten me out if not.

I enjoy visiting the covered bridges of New Hampshire. I planned a weekend of relaxation away from home that had a visit to some bridges at its base.
The Stark Covered Bridge is located within Stark Village. The bridge fits in with the rest of the village and looks like it just belongs there, As this is more of a sight seeing venture than anything else a camera would be highly recommended.

My MIL said that the bridge has been there forever and that traffic used to travel over it. She said to the best of her knowledge it was in such poor condition now that it was also closed to foot traffic. She wanted a photo of the bridge and low and behold it had been restored. It is now open to foot traffic and has picnic benches on it. What a lovely place for a lunch. Sadly the temperature was -12 degrees with a wind chill of -34. So our visit was very brief. This photo is my mother in law and her son. I also took photos of the train.
