Unfortunately, the museum was closed. I was excited to be in Manchester and happy to have time to stop by the museum. I plan to come back to Manchester and hope to be able to visit the museum next time.

As someone who has been involved with credit unions for many years, I wanted to visit the American Credit Union Museum while in Manchester. We found the location with the aid of our Garmin in a picturesque section of the town. The entrance to the museum is actually on the side street and we had to ring the bell to enter. Once inside, the museum's Executive Director Stephanie took us on a tour. While I knew some credit union history, I was pleased to learn many details that were new to me. There really is an interesting story here and the former mansion is a perfect place to house the museum.

I wrote a negative review today and it was deleted! !!
I called this morning Monday, to verify that the museum was open and was told that it was. I arrived at 11am and there was no one there. After 40 minutes of bell ringing and phone calls I gave up. A sign on the front door clearly stated that hours were 10 to 12 on monday.
Why was I lied to? Why was my post deleted???

Ok someone took the statement "Build it and they shall come" a little too seriously. I'm sorry, the only reason we came here was to really check out that someone would put the time in to building this place. More looks like someone needed a tax right off.

We had a banquet held there for the Air Force Credit Union and it turned out a lot better than we anticipated and the building is really not what I had imagined. When you think of Credit Unions you usually think of boring, windowless cubical capsules. We need to start bringing this type of architecture and floor plan back again.

This nicely rehabed building houses a very interesting collection of exhibits and artifacts relating to the history of credit unions in teh United States. Apparently the first credit union in the US began doing business in NH in this actual building in 1908. Its worth a stop in if you are in the neighborhood.
