Construite en 1716, c'est la plus vieille maison en brique de la Nouvelle Angleterre et un très bel exemple d'architecture géorgienne. Je ne l'ai pas visitée, j'ai juste pris une photo

The fact the house has stayed in family hands for so long lends itself to more period furnishings in the house. Our guide was wonderful. He brought the house to life.

My husband and I enjoyed our step into a time of glamour, wealth, and yet a time of innocence. The Warner family may have been wealthy, but their forefathers were smart business owners for their era.
We enjoyed the stories of the families, their attire and furnishings.
We visited the Warner House on a 90 * day, the home had fans circulating the air around but the realization was: with all the clothing that these residents wore could not have been comfortable in this type of weather. The same with the winter months; Life to us, peeking in, looked glamorous, but it still must have been difficult. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of this historic home.

We had a fantastic tour, We had arranged to meet the director at the house as it was closed for the season for regular tours. He was amazing and so knowledgeable. We found out about the family who had built the house and everything in it. Just great for history buffs

The Warner House, also known as the MacPheadris-Warner House, is a historic house museum located at 150 Daniel Street at the corner of Chapel Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built in 1716-1718, it is the oldest urban brick house in northern New England and one of the finest examples of early Georgian brick houses in New England. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. The house, which was built for Captain Archibald MacPheadris, a Scottish/Irish sea captain who settled in Portsmouth, is a 2 1/2-story brick structure with walls 15 inches thick laid in Flemish bond. The interior follows a typical Georgian four-room plan with an added kitchen wing in the rear. The walls of the central hall and stairway are decorated with four murals that are the oldest extant Anglo-American wall murals in the country. In addition, the house is topped by a cupola. In 1760, MacPheadris's only surviving child married Jonathan Warner, a Portsmouth merchant. The house remained in the hands of the Warner family until 1932, when the Warner House Association was established to save the house from demolition. A few months later, the house museum opened with little or no furnishings, However, over time, many of the original family furnishings were returned to the house.
