I really wanted to leave a two star review but that wouldn't be fair - the place wasn't open, and it wouldn't be fair to judge it using off season parameters. I was surprised because this place was recommended by a local at our lodging. However, many of the restaurants recommended by our hosts and/or other residents hadn't opened yet either...not sure why they were recommended. Are they usually open at this point?
Only three shops (costume jewelry and surf-skateboard) were open on a Monday in mid-May. I was a bit puzzled as to why this trio bothered opening, as there were very few people about. And yet there were folks, all just as disappointed, just looking for anywhere to browse.
Judging by the darkened exteriors I am not sure there is much here to attract even when open...there are other shops in LBI with the same type of merchandise and nicer merchandise. This could be a very cute place, but it didn't seem to have much to it - kind of tired. Some of the stores looked as though they wouldn't be open again, period.
Needs to fix up a bit, fill the shops and offer classic souvenir venues with some local artisans and coastal boutiques.
Or maybe just, um, be open in May when the tourists begin to arrive.

A very nice collection of stores and restaurants all under one roof and conveniently located as a great rainy day activity and a good place to grab a quick meal. My granddaughters love it.

Far from the rowdy, rude people at other beach areas. Beautiful shops, local customers with families, polite and friendly taking the time to enjoy neighbors and new acquaintances.
Cute and quality shops, not the usual $5 tee shirt stores. Ice cream and fudge is every where and the water park is really nice for kids and young teenagers,
Clean is the focus here, quality food and family friendly.

These shops have unque items, there is also ice cream and a few places to get a snack. This located on the water making the place enjoyable for entire family.

Bay Village is fun area of LBI to shop, eat and explore. We visited with 6 14 yr old girls and they loved it!

super fantastic place for a seaside stroll and for some great shops, places to eat and souvenirs as well, try not to miss if you are in the area.

This is great place to walk around, shop & eat. Lots of great souvenir shops, cool t-shirts, surf gear, high-end beachwear, jewelry, etc.

Lots of little shops with different things, even a bookstore with a used selection. A handful of food places from fudge to chowder to beer.

Quirky, seafaring and speciality eat shops! Look for the ship! There really is something for everyone. You can grab a beer at the Shipbottom brewery, pick up a sweatshirt if you are chilly or something nautical! My favorite place is the bakery that sells the elephant ears. Its located over by the fudge shop along with the chowder place.
You can walk to the bay side and watch the boat ramp if you are bored.
If you are looking for a place to grab a drink, go to Tuckers Tavern a few blocks down and watch the sunset.

All seaside resorts and towns have a Bay Village-esk location or two. Families especially find lot's to do. Nighttime is a favorite to discover Jersey Shore treasures..even a microbrew!

When do all the shops open in beach haven/LBI? Do they open in early May or not till memorial weekend??

Some have already opened and have at least weekend hours. Around Easter (April 16) I would expect more will be open and as you get into May, almost all are open at least part time. The best thing would be to check the individual stores you are most interested in. Bay Village has a Facebook page that we update regularly to let customers know who is open.
