Сейчас музей закрыт, поэтому удалось лишь побродить по парку и сделать фотографии. С 24 октября, насколько я понял должен открыться.

I grew up in Edison Township and had visited the museum when I was in the Cub Scouts. I found it fasinating at the time. It made me want to be an inventor when I grew up. When I visited again as an adult in my 50's I was expecting some of the wonder that I experienced as a child to fall short of my expectations. I could not have been more wrong! The museum, its staff and volunteers do an incedible job of highlighting Thomas Alva Edison's many accomplishments. At the end of my tour, I walked away with the same sense of wonder that I felt as a child.

We love history and this was a diversion from an otherwise long drive. This small museum is in a residential area, though not far from the highway. You will likely need to parallel park. There is a large monument as you approach, but the museum building appears quite small. The tour cost is low, downright cheap for the tour you get. The docents are friendly and make the experience fun and educational for all. They are very pleased to help those who may need special accommodations. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Very young children may not appreciate the tour.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park yesterday for the first time. As we drove up, I first noticed the giant art-deco tower with one of Edison's light bulbs at the top of it. This is the site of Thomas Edison's laboratory in Menlo Park where many of his inventions were developed. While the museum biulding is small, the experience of the visit will leave you in awe! Our guide was Chuck who was extremely knowledgeable and personable and did a fantastic job explaining many of Edison's inventions that were developed at this location. He really brought the history to life for all of us on the tour. The museum features a collection of early phonographs and records developed by Edison, and Chuck demonstrated how a few of them worked and we all listened to some of the first recordings played on some of the fiirst phonographs. It was like stepping back in time. It was a very interactive tour and Chuck did an especially good job interacting with the young students that were on the tour. After an hour or so in the museum, we walked over to the Edison Memorial Tower where we were taken inside to see the eternal lightbulb burning since 1938. If you have an interest in the history of technology this is one gem of a museum! They also have a nice museum shop where you can purchase books on Edison, Edison-era style light bulbs, and even some original Edison records you can play on your turntable at home. I highly recommend a visit here. Definitely a five-star experience!

The Edison Tower has been a favorite attraction for 75 years.
I've taken many of my out-of-state friends here.
Check it out!

We were in the area visiting family and decided to check out the Edison Museum and Tower. This was built on the location of the former Edison Laboratory, along the first street which was entirely lit by light bulbs. There were many mechanical inventions from the early 1900s (not likely directly from Edison but representative of the era) including different types of phonographs. There was an on-going tour with the volunteer guide taking you through the displays (2 small rooms), with interesting stories. The tour ended outside at the Edison Tower which housed the eternal light (locked; requires guide to open). The cost was $15 per adult but your NPS pass should work.

We were here before all of the renovations were done so your experience may be different. This is located at the site of Edison's Menlo Park laboratories. All of the original buildings had been removed by Henry Ford and are now in Michigan. There is a small museum here, quite interesting for its size. The light on top of the monument has been replaced by LED lighting (!)

I found this little treasure while looking for an educational stop on the way to the beach. Is a very small building filled with fotos, memorabilia and artifacts all pertaining to Thomas Alva Edison. The tour was guided full of all the information you'd want to know about the genius and even some you wouldn't. The tour guide we had mentioned how Edison had married a 16 year old. Twice he repeated the story. I had explaining to do to my 7 year old granddaughter after that. In my opinion this is unnecessary information and totally out of taste to repeated for a second time, especially in front of children. I became even more disheartened when in the second part of the tour a new group joined in and the guide began to go over all the info he had already given our group. We left before we had to hear the unnecessary info again...

This is a very small museum, but stuffed with information, stories, and historical items. The tour cost $5 each, which we felt was reasonable. Closed Sundays and Mondays. The museum is visited by guided tour only, but the tour was quite good. The guide played 100-year-old Phonographs. The tour is a little under 1 hour and the tiny gift shop (if you care to browse) would only take 5 minutes.

The museum had a lot of old objects and inventions, which were fun to learn about. (This museum isn't just about reading a million plaques, which we hate.) The tour guide was able to demonstrate many of the objects, which was fun. It was also neat to see the big memorial tower.

There is also an adjoining park with walking trails which looked very nice. If the weather had been better, we would have taken a lovely walk in the woods or had a picnic there.

Visit if you are in the area. But I wouldn't travel for more than an hour to see this. It's neat, but not worth a long journey.
