See the Alpaca's Up Close
A fascinating place and the Alpaca's are just amazing to see up close. They are all different and seem to have their own personalities. They all have a name and are very friendly. Love to eat and it was fun feeding them! They go where the food is. The products they sell are also so unique and the people were just great. Fun day.

A tranquil location a little bit off the beaten path with wonderful people and adorable alpacas and a llama. If you love alpacas then this is the place. Our guide Sophia was both passionate and informative. Your tour includes plenty of interaction with the alpacas inside their pens and roaming areas. You get to feed and pet the female alpacas while you can feed, pet and walk the males. There were also some baby alpacas (4 months old) romping around. These animals are beyond friendly and adorable. Bring your lunch and eat it in a peaceful picnic area adjacent to the river. Great for the entire family. The kids and grandkids will love it. Just a hint: watch for the small sign on the right (River Road) at the entrance. The ranch is about 3/4 mile up the road. It is a dirt/gravel/paved winding road with a serious 10MPH speed limit! Google Maps got us there easily. You can buy alpaca/llama food ($1 a bag). The females will eat everything while the males eat far less. Couldn't feed the babies as they were still relying on Mom for nutrition. Can't wait to revisit these adorable and sweet animals.

Great place for the whole family

I took my grandaughters (8 and 6) to visit the alpacas and they loved it. Couldn't stop
talking about and I promised them another visit. Actually this weekend we are planning to visit along with a few more family members. Just a hint - we bought food to feed the alpacas but they were enthusiastic eaters and pushed us around a bit. They were very sweet and friendly but maybe an adult should control the feeding.

Beautiful location with wonderful people and adorable animals. Bring your lunch with you, a peaceful picnic area is right by the river. Yes, take an alpaca for a walk, it's a unique experience. We will be going back in couple of weeks after the animals are sheared.

Outstanding visit to an alpaca farm with an outstanding tour guide

We had a terrific time visiting with alpacas and llamas at the Highland Airs Alpaca Ranch
Alpacas are extremely curious animals which is why they are such a treat to be around. When visiting with them, the majority will not just turn and run away from you. There are two types of alpacas. Huacaya - characterized by a short, dense, crimpy fleece, giving it a wooly appearance. Represent 90% of all alpacas in the
US. Suri - characterized by long, silky 'pencil-like' locks (similar to dread locks in
appearance) that grow parallel to the body. Represent 10% of alpacas in the US.

- An alpaca's average life span is between 18-24 years of age..

Saturday Fun!
2018年11月 • 夫妻情侣
I had the most wonderful time at Highland Airs! Tours were $10 per person for adults and $1 per bag of food. I went with my husband and another couple and I can tell you that you've never seen four adults laugh so much. We had such a blast. The tour was very informative and I learned a lot about alpacas. This is a great Saturday activity for adults or kids. It's informational and fun. We got to feed and pet these friendly animals and were told we could stay as long as we'd like and even buy more food if we wanted to stay and enjoy the day. I was able to get some great photos since the alpacas are so friendly and used to visitors. Of course, it helps that they know you have food hiding somewhere in your pockets. We also got to meet one of the owners and he was so kind and personable. The little shop is great as well and they have socks, scarves, hats, etc. made from the wool. We grabbed some Christmas gifts while we were there. If you want a fun and different thing to do on a nice day, definitely head out here. Bonus: Donaldson Farms is nearby for cider donuts (and strawberry or apple picking, when in season) and there are three breweries in the area as well.
