Very beautiful old Cathedral in downtown Metuchen The school is also a Blue Ribbon School which is a wonderful achievement.

My wife, two children and many relatives attended a wedding at Saint Francis of Assisi Cathedral in April 2018. It is a beautiful church with a beautiful altar. If you are passing through Metuchen, New Jersey it is worth a visit.

As I was raised in Methchen, the Cathedral is no stranger to me. It was constructed while Father Foley was the parish priest. The stained glass windows and grayish pink marble interior lend themselves to a peaceful place for solace and meditation. Both my parents had their funeral services here, so it is a special place for me. Worth a visit if you are partial to fine churches.

You don't need a long visit unless you intend to sit and meditate. It's a beautiful structure...attend mass at 10:30 on Sunday the music and choir are inspiring.You can also walk the outside grounds and visit the grove and burial place. For those who wish to view the blessed sacrament there is a special chapel open 24/7 being always attended.
For Easter, Palm Sunday and Christmas the services are spectacular you must get there early or you will end up hearing the mass from another area. Check the rectory for special mass's such as the Chrism Mass celebrated by the bishop with every priest in the dioceses in attendance.

I find this church to be very beautiful. It has a nice mosaic of different scenes from the Bible. Even though I do not practice this denomination of Christianity I can still admire the care and attention that went into designing it.

We attended the Chrism mass for the first time. The celebrant was the new bishop. The place was a big size for a cathedral. The music was very impressive with trumpets and choir. It was a very solemn event. Lots of parishioners, priests and deacons attended. It was well performed meaning all parts of the mass were executed very well. I felt blessed after the mass.

Besides the Bishop and Fr. Edmond who assists, there are three great priests. Msg. Bob who is the rector and keeps things under control. There is also Fr. John who is from India and helps that community. Finally there is Fr. Gerry from The Philippines who assists our church community.

The architecture both inside and outside is worth the visit. It's the perfect place to sit and meditate for a while and I understand the services are excellent.
