Great View of AC and Sunrise

Fun place to visit at the end of LBI. Good place to walk around, but not much else to do there. Saw many walk past the signs to prohibited area hiking down the shoreline.

Good view of Atlantic City from here, and watch sunrise!

Beautiful 8 mile Wildlife drive! Definitely recommend!

Absolutely beautiful! The 8 mile Wildlife drive is a must do! And you must take your time and drive slowly. You will be rewarded with wildlife overload! We enjoyed it so much that we went two days in a row! Definitely recommend!

A day of natural beauty at Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in South Jersey

I have been wanting to get to the Forsythe Nature Preserve Visitors Center for ages . I finally took the 1.45 mile drive and it was so worth it. Beautiful day to walk around and view the Osprey nests from the walkways over the marshes and drive the eight mile bridge. During the 15 mile per hour drive, people would pull over to get a better look at the birds and everyone was respectful and sort of eased around each other. I saw so many red winged blackbirds, egrets, swans, two grey herons, and some other beautiful water fowl I could not identify. I will definitely be back. A wonderful place to take in all of nature, the birds, the marshes, and the lovely hiking trails.

October the best time for hiking here

It is coastal New Jersey so of course a big part of the year everything wants to eat you here. The typical for October cooler but still pleasant weather is perfect for hiking here. Green head flies and other pests seemed gone, ticks calmed down and we enjoyed extensive hiking. We topped it off with the usual bird-watching drive with the silhouette of Atlantic City on the horizon.
The fee-paying station is located adjacent to the parking lot and toilets.

Fun for nature lovers

We loved the bird trail drive, really a lot of fun, you drive out into the mud flats on top of a dike. However, the visitor center is only open for limited hours on limited days. We also tried to walk a trail, but were attacked by biting green headed flies.

A very satisfactory return

We had visited once before--- just driving through--- and had not been that impressed. Today was a whole different experience. By both walking and driving, we saw vistas and birds we had not observed in the first visit. We were the only people on the trails and our on-foot exploration allowed us to take our time in listening for calls and observing with no distractions. In addition, on the drive the birds were closer in and more diversified than what we experienced the first time. We hope to return soon and have an even better day!

Hiking and Driving tour - bird watching!!

It was windy and chilly so we opted for the driving tour, but there are beautiful trails for hiking on the premises. The Visitor's center has a lot of information and very worth stopping in. The docent gave us some background information and tips for making the most of the driving tour. We saw lots of species of birds. Climb the towers for awesome views of the refuge!

Beautiful Drive Through Marsh With Walking Trails

Beautiful drive through marsh perfect for viewing all kinds of water birds. We saw Buffleheads, Marsh Hawks, Great Blue Herons, White Herons, Egrets, Snow Geese, various species of duck, etc. Definitely recommend the drive.

Wonderful

Oh what you can see if you take the time to look. Slow down, get off the phone and see the wonders of this amazing park. The birding was excellent and the views were incredible. This is a little known gem of a park just waiting for you - - no crowds and beautiful beaches. It has it all. Best of all: it belongs to all of us Americans.
