We were there in October, some of the features of this park were closed. But the hiking trail to the point was relaxing and provided very beautiful views of the lake.

Beautiful fall hike along the lake. There were so many leaves and someone cleared the hiking paths of the leaves or we would never have found the trail. It was also great to learn the history of the park and area along the hike.

Spent some state in the state park in September. There are some scenic pictures of the lake from the boat launch area. Did the Point Trail - it was very flat and easy to walk. At the end, it narrows and you can get some good pictures.
Worth a visit if you are passing through and want to do some walking.

We enjoyed a walk in the park. There were plenty of places to stop, sit on a bench and enjoy the views. It seems to be a good place for summer bbq too, there were plenty of picnic tables and grills. The marina parking area is more scenic than the beach parking area.

My family has had our boat docked there for the season for years. It's a very nice park with walking and biking trails with beautiful views along the way. Great place for a picnic or get to gather with friends and family. They have the best boat launching ramps on the lake. Also several fishing tournaments are held there every year and it's fun to see the fish caught during the weigh in. Overall, very nice place to spend some relaxing time to enjoy nature.

We happened upon this state park after deciding to drive into New York state just to say we did. This park has only one downside, and that is a lack of facilities. The only restrooms we discovered were at the marina and they were closed. Other than that it is a very scenic park with plenty of nice places to walk and even push a stroller around. Lake Chatauaqua is also picturesque on a sunny day. To top it all off we didn’t even have to pay to park thanks to the governors executive order! I’ll probably never say much good about Governor Cuomo, but he was right to make the state parks more open and accessible to everyone.

Thank you for the good rating and review. There are normally several restrooms available in the park. The marina restrooms (normally 24/7/365), the bathhouse restrooms and the pavilion restrooms (both normally mid-May to mid-Oct daily). Unfortunately, you visited during the height of the covid restrictions and we did not have restrooms available to the public at that point. All restrooms were eventually opened for the summer. We do hope you visit again during non-covid affected times!

Great place to shore fish if you don't have a boat. The walk out to the point is not to far and well maintained year round. Good marina in the summer months. Good parking and lake access all year round. Easy place to get on the ice for winter fishing (lot always plowed). Come early and there is no charge to enter park.

We were boating and stopped to see the bass tournament weigh ins and eat our picnic lunches. The bathrooms were adequate.

I loved this area. The park is beautiful. We went in September and the weather was perfect. We rode our bicycles around. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

So they charge you 6 bucks to park and you get to park in a crappy parking lot and you walk by the lake and then you get to the trail and it’s a short one and you just get to the lake. I mean, the lake is beautiful but it’s nothing really incredible. I won’t probably do this park again

Thank you for your review. I admit I was a little troubled as I read it. I'm thinking that we (the park) need to do a better job with signage as there is far more than one little trail - there are miles of trails in the park. I've been trying to figure out exactly where you were... You must have parked in the upper lot, as it's the only area in the park that was not freshly paved 2 years ago. But, I haven't been able to deduce which trail you took to the lake form there.
I am also wondering what your goal/expectations for the park were? We have a marina/boat launch, newly renovated beach, miles of not only hiking trails, but also single-track mountain bike trail, a small restaurant concession, a colony of purple martins and lots of other wildlife, and the tallest cucumber magnolia in the state. What would make you want to do this park again?

The park does not. However, the Chautauqua Belle Steamship and the Summer Wind both operate on the lake for tours; I believe they are the only 2.
