While in New York for my daughter's LL.M. graduation from Fordham University, we found ourselves not at the Lincoln Center but in the Bronx. The site and grounds are simply stunning. We will go back for a more thorough visit when less crowded and take in the NY Botanical Gardens at the same time ... they are just across Forden Drive.

Walked by the University was told about the history of the University. Very beautiful campus. If I would have gone to college I very well may have considered this Univerity since it is nestled in the Bronx near the town represent Little Italy, Arthur Ave.

On my most recent visit to New York, I wanted to spend some time in the Bronx, and among other things visit the campus of my alma mater, Fordham University - specifically, the Rose Hill campus at which this famous Jesuit university began way back in 1841. If you want, the University Church can be considered a tourist or a cultural attraction; it can boast stained glass windows donated by one of the last kings of France, and it has the original altar from the most famous church in New York - St. Patrick's Cathedral. Whether or not that is sufficient motivation to visit Fordham at Rose Hill depends on the enthusiasm of the tourist or art lover, but for a Fordham grad, you cannot but give this place the highest rating. (Many students, myself included, prayed here that we would make our grades or pass this or that exam.) By the way, the campus in which this active place of worship is located is a beautiful 75-acre oasis in the middle of the Bronx - itself worth a visit.

The Bronx campus is located next to the Bronx Zoo & New York Botanical Gardens (which were actually constructed on land that originally was part of the University) and near Little Italy (the Belmont section). The campus church was built in 1845 and contains the altar from the original St. Patrick’s Cathedral & has some beautiful stained glass windows.
At least 13 movies have shot scenes on this campus, including “The Exorcist” & Paul Newman’s “The Verdict”. Edgar Allan Poe lived nearby (you can visit his cottage) & spent time on the campus in the library. His poem “The Bells” is said to be inspired by the college bells ringing which could be heard from his home.

In the serene campus of the Fordham University, this gothic church stands out as a gem. Wonderful stain glass windows and even the organs adds to the beauty of the setting. Brings instant peace to all visitors.

Fordham University's Church is simply breathtaking. It's soaring Gothic ceilings and arches are adorned with ornamental structures and artwork. The floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows of the four Evangelists flank the aisles and are reverently magical when the sun shines through. I so enjoy coming to this Church to celebrate Mass.

We were visiting a cousin who is attending Fordham. As far as churches go, it ain't Italy. Actually a typical Jesuit style house of worship, classic but not over the top. There are to noteworthy stories surrounding how the church obtained it's stain glass as well as the cemetery. Google it, it give the University and the church added character.

Friendly, warm and inviting. Incredibly beautiful, lovely students and faculty. I have not been to the campus in 20 years. As a Alumni of Fordham, I always loved the campus, but I had forgotten how beautiful the campus was: I could have stayed for hours and just walked around. The Botanical Gardens is across the street and the zoo is just down the rd. Make it a day and visit all three. Ware good walking shoes. enjoy Then have lunch or dinner on Arthur Ave.

The Fordham Chapel is both historical and beautiful. It is a real treat to share in the mass celebration with the enthusiasm of so many young people. Locals seem to use this as their parish-- if you go, you will understand why. This is a very special experience.
