Really enjoyed trip with my wife and two teenagers. We did kayaks because water levels were low but the rapids were fun, the views spectacular, and the guides friendly and effective.

Because the water levels were low, the ACO staff took us out on individual kayaks vs. large rafts. My teenage son and I had a great time. The staff was super friendly, experienced, patient and non-judgmental as we all managed to get ourselves stuck on rocks along the way. The location is breathtaking. Highly recommended!

Wish I could give it more than 5 stars!! It was amazing! Water level was low - so we got hung up a bit on the rocks - but still tons of fun. What an amazing view of a small section of the park.
I definitely want to do this again!!!!!

Whether the water is high or low the experience is amazing. Letchworth State park gorges, waterfalls, maybe some rapids, depending on the season. Great business connecting the community with the great outdoors. Schedule in advance.

A must if you are visiting the area!!
We family of 4 with small kids went for rafting for the 1st time but what an experience!! The guides are coolest and very very good. The whole trip took around 3.5hrs but there was not a single dull second. Usually kids now a days say 'i m bored' but here every single second was full of fun and excitement with gratitude for power of nature. Our guide's name was 'Harmony' and I could not say enough thank you to her for she talked about the river, water falls, trees, vultures, bugs, history of the area and what not. All this while navigating our boat and guiding us through the water.

Excellent trip! We had the good fortune of having Tim as our guide and a beautiful sunny 75 degree day . Tim’s information was on point , educational, and humorous. The scenery was amazing with a totally different perspective than looking down on the river. I highly recommend.

Great whitewater kayak trip with nice newer inflatable kayaks that were very maneuverable on the river . Very scenic trip and solid class 1&2 rapids. Short bus ride thru the park at drop-off and pick up. Well run outfitter. Only note to mention is they don't allow flip flops or slides.

They are truly, following COVID guidelines, so this is a great outdoor activity. there were two in our party and we lucked out and and a guide, name John, with us in our boat. He was very knowledgeable about the area, the canyon, pointed out wildlife to us, made our experience extra special. we truly had a wonderful time.

Staff was amazing and they made me feel very safe with all protocols. They were friendly and at a challenging time they gave us a refund because my girlfriend was having issues to continue with trip. This is the type of business that we should all cherish and embrace because of their ethics even in a very difficult time. We definitely will come back again!!!😘😘😘

It’s about an hour from Buffalo. As for tame, in August it will be drier, and yes, tame. I was told that sometimes if it’s a dry summer there isn’t enough water for rapids, and they do inner tubes instead. We were lucky enough to have a nice ride, but it was nothing too taxing. I think the most was class 2 rapids, maybe a “light” 3.

Hi Kevin: My husband and I (Senior Citizens but not decrepid ---actually rafted the Gauley River in W. Virginia twice !!) are planning on reserving a tent campsite at Letchworth for about ten days during Aug-Sept of 2016. Can you tell me if there are any dam releases and if not, (I realize you cannot predict water levels) when do you believe would be the best time to secure our campsite to enjoy the best of the rafting experience. Our party of 4 is planning a trip the third week of July 2015. Ages are 11 to 63. My questions are 1) does a guide accompany every raft? 2) how "rough" are the waters for this time of year? 3) will our 63 yr. realitively healthy (female) need to do anything difficult or need to do to prepare before taking this trip? 4)anything you can share that would make this trip a memorable experience, please feel free to share. Thank you for your interest in our river trips at Letchworth State Park. All of our trips are guided but there is not a guide in every raft (the river doesn't require it.) However, as a general anyone who makes a reservation and specifically requests a guide in his/her raft gets one, the guides have to ride with someone and most people are fine without. Your entire party is welcome to participate. The Genesee is a class I/II river which is at the milder end of the spectrum (class V / VI is the roughest).
We are solely dependent on rain to keep the river running so I would only be guessing at this point how the Genesee would be flowing in July. We could be rafting, the river could be too low to raft but we are able to travel the gorge using our inflatable sit on top kayaks, or it could be so low we aren't running at all. You can monitor the current river levels via a link found on the home page of our website or by contacting me directly.
For people that enjoy the outdoors, a trip through the gorge at Letchworth State Park is certainly a memorable experience. My suggestion would be to make a reservation a week or so before you intend to visit the area and inquire about the river conditions at that time. I should have a pretty good idea by then what you can expect. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have.
