My husband and I were in NY for a concert and decided to tour this museum. We did not have a reservation, but the staff were kind enough to squeeze us in for a tour. Our tour guide was very nice and gave a great presentation. The tour guide provides some information and pictures, but there's are also some audio clips throughout the tour. The house was small, but it was an interesting tour. Although Louis could've afforded a much more elaborate home, he chose to stay in Corona, because he loved the neighborhood, and received great support from the residents. It was worth the price of admission, just to hear about Louis' life and legacy.

The Louis Armstrong House Museum is an absolute superb museum that celebrates and honors the amazing life and legacy of jazz entertainer, Louis Armstrong.

In celebration of Black History, I brought and treated myself and my wife for a guided tour of the Louis Armstrong House Museum in February of 2018.

During our tour, both my wife and I learned that the museum was formerly the home of Louise Armstrong and that he resided there along with his wife, Lucille from 1943 until his death in 1971.

We were also able to view the many of the home’s rooms, extensive furnishings, memorabilia of the Armstrongs.

What my wife and I found most enjoyable were the voice recordings of Louis Armstrong. In these recordings, Armstrong shares his thoughts on his house, his neighborhood and of course, his wonderful music.

Both my wife and I highly enjoyed our guided tour definitely recommend for others to visit and tour this wonderful National Historic Landmark!!!

Interesting tour providing a glimpse into Satchmo's private life. It was interesting to hear about his life in his Queens neighborhood. Wonderful photos and musical/audio clips supplement the tour as you make your way through the house.

If you live in the city and are looking for a short museum experience, you have to go to the Louis Armstrong House museum. An unassuming house on the outside on a neighborhood block, the interior design was all that! Wait till you see the kitchen, dining room and the downstairs bathroom! A must see!

This is probably my favorite thing in NYC (and I’ve seen A LOT). If JOY was a person, it would be Louis Armstrong. Though modest and undergoing some repairs, it was full of original furnishings and artifacts. You could really feel Louis and Lucille, their spirit. You could see how much they loved each other. Louis’s den/study is fully restored. The kitchen, despite being built in the 70s, is immaculate and stunning. The home is full of Louis’s original voice recordings, some of which you get to listen to. My favorite is an original letter he wrote, describing his love for their neighborhood in Corona. So touching.

Admission is 13 dollars, but it’s so worth it. Lots of street parking. Close to tons of fantastic eateries. Please help support this museum.

There can be no argument that Louis Armstrong was a Royal. As the King of Jazz, Armstrong could have lived in palaces anywhere in the world. His wife bought this house eight months before he set foot into it. Once he did, he was home and didn't want to leave. He made a life here and enjoyed the working class neighbors he was surrounded by. He was inspired by this place to write "It's a Wonderful Life". This very public man never let his fame go to his head like so many others. I just returned from a tour of this very modest house in the middle of Queens, off the beaten track. I have been smiling since and wanted to share my joy with you. Just as he shared his joy with us. If you get a chance, drop into Louis' house. (I hope you are lucky enough to get Jovan as your tour guide.)

I enjoyed visiting the Louis Armstrong home for its fine collection of memorabilia (he tended to collect a lot of music-related artifacts during his many trips) and because his wife made sure the house remained pretty much as it was furnished when he passed away in 1971. Many of the rooms have the decor that was popular in the 1960s & 1970s (the kitchen was a classic from that era). Interesting to both music fans and architecture fans will be Louis' restored den, which is laid out as the miniature recording studio he used for the last years of his life.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Armstrong's overall life history and his impact on the American & international jazz scene. The gift shop has a lot of historic Armstrong recordings available. Note a much larger Louis Armstrong Museum welcome center (the existing house will remain pretty much as it is) is under construction to hold all of his historic artifacts; fans might want to wait until 2020 when that Center opens.

As a trumpet player, in (among other things) a "New Orleans " style jazz band, this visit was a priority on our NYC trip. The house is preserved exactly as Louis and Lucille had it, and their personal touches are everywhere. It was quite amazing to see the desk he sat at in his den while practicing the trumpet, and to hear the many clips of him philosophising, playing or just chatting, recorded on his own state of the art equipment! Our guide was lovely and gave so much detail in her presentation, and the small gift shop has some unique merchandise. And as an extra treat, by prior arrangement I was allowed to visit the Armstrong archive at nearby Queens College, where I had the honour of playing some of Louis' trumpets, an unforgettable experience. I will certainly return, when the new education centre, performance venue and catering outlet are finished, across the street and in the house next door. Highly recommended, especially for fans and music lovers.

If you are going to be in the neighborhood, be sure yo take this in. But if not, I would not recommend it unless you are a huge jazz or Louis fan. You have to take the tour, which is offered hourly on the hour. Friendly personnel. Nice little gift shop. No photos allowed (wonder why).

A really cool house inhabited by two very cool people. The tour is a great excuse to get over to Corona.
