A day in Bibracte (guided tour + Gallic restaurant + museum) particularly interesting!
Beautiful discovery of the site thanks to an exciting and passionate Guide.
Very informative about the very functioning of archaeological excavations and research as well as the way of life of the time.
As for the restaurant, excellent surprise! Very good, typical setting, excellent welcome.
Award particularly reasonable considering the quality of the site.
To do without hesitation!

Very interesting museum located on Mont Beuvray and offering the discovery of the history and remains of this important Gallo-Roman place, still being excavated in the heart of the forest massif.
10€ admission for about 1h15 visit of this fairly recent and well maintained museum including audio guide in several languages. There are also occasional entertainment and a restaurant, not tested.
Very courteous and pleasant staff.
You can then take a free shuttle (in summer) to the top of Mont Beuvray and discover a sumptuous panorama. Several walking/hiking trails, from 1h to 3h, fairly accessible for all even if sometimes the paths lack arrows. Do not forget what to drink and eat because nothing to sell upstairs.
Great photos and good breaths of clean air to consume without moderation. Great!

Very interesting. I had read in the reviews that a tour adds a lot. So against our habits booked a tour (could choose German or French, chose German) The Guide had a lot of knowledge and told enthusiastically. Lots of explanations, clearly speaking too. Listened interested for 2 hours and learned a lot. Archaeologists are still working on excavations , which also gives a very nice picture of the way these sites are being investigated .

We go back 2,000 years, in this Eduens, which was "updated" about a century ago. The site is beautiful, the guided tour is top, do not forget your walking shoes or good sneakers. Guided tour of the museum, magnificent building, super museum...Waoaow. Go with the kids, it's suitable and they'll love it. Bravo!

A high-quality museum that must nevertheless be visited several times, as there are so many elements to see and read.
The information materials are very well presented and the staff are very welcoming.
Visiting the ruins on the site of the ancient oppidum of Bibracte (free) allows you to better immerse yourself in the stories told to us at the museum.
The place, abundantly wooded, has a strange, almost mystical calm.
The price of €10 for entry remains very reasonable, considering what is presented to us.
We were not able to try the Gallic menu at the Auberge du Chaudron.

Based on the positive reviews and our shared interest for ancient sites, we ventured out to Bibracte. The museum was rather uninteresting and chaotic, with no clear chronological order of items presented. Most information shown was based on assumptions, how they got to these assumptions was poorly (if at all) explained. The information presented at excavations on the hill seemed to follow the same trend of generally baseless assumptions. The site was "renovated" in a rather liberal way, where the yet untouched heaps of stones bore absolutely no resemblence to the renovated parts. We all thought it was more of an artist impression rather than an actual renovation. All in all, we were not impressed and would've rather done something else with our time.

Seul le musée est payant, et chèque vacances et CB.
