We visited the churches of Lalibela with Melsie. He is a very knowledgeable guide. He is able to explain different aspects of the churches. Not only from the architectonical point of view but also he knows the history behind the site and the historical research. Melsie is kind, respectful, and very professional. We truly recommend him if you want to visit the wonderful place of Lalibela

Top experience, safe and Melsie knows a lot of the history of the Holy City of Lalibela. I recommend to get in touch with him and plan your next visit to the Mother Land

I have visited Lalibela churches with Melsie and my experience was wonderful! He was a super guide. Melsie has a great knowledge about Lalibela and Ethiopian culture and history, he explained everything in details, very clearly and I could learn a lot and enjoy the visit. I highly recommend him, he is a kind and trustworthy person.

Wie alle anderen schreiben: Melsie ist der beste Tourguide, den man sich wünschen kann! Er ist unglaublich freundlich und weiss sehr viel über die reiche Geschichte der Felsenkirchen. Und vor allem: Er ist ein begnadeter Erzähler, dem man gerne zuhört. Man spürt, wie stolz er auf das historische Erbe seiner Heimatstadt ist. Und er konnte uns bei grossem Andrang geschickt um die Reisegruppen herum lotsen. Auch unsere Sonderwünsche konnte er alle erfüllen. Melsie kann man nur empfehlen!

I was in Lalibela to visit the churches. I got picked up from they airport and as I had a long trip behind I got the afternoon free for myself. I got picked up next day by my guide and we've went for see the impressive churches. He really took the time for this, asked me if I went to quick, to slow or if I did understand everything.
As you can't visit the churches from 6 till 7.30 (Ethiopian time) we planned our lunch. After that there was much time left so we climb up to see Lalibela from the top (amazing).

Consiglio Melsie per onestá, spontaneitá e gentilezza. Lalibela é stata l'ultima tappa di un viaggio in solitaria in Eritrea ed Etiopia, prima del rientro ad Addis, e ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere Melsie che, da couchsurfer, mi ha ospitato a casa sua fornendomi tutti i suggerimenti e i consigli per risparmiare al massimo, da dove andare a mangiare cibo tradizionale alle escursioni a Lalibela e nei dintorni.
Se ritorneró in Etiopia per andare al sud mi rivolgeró sicuramente a lui.

I highly recommend Melsie for a trip to Lalibela. He's trustworthy, highly knowledgeable and obviously fascinated by the history of his beautiful country. We will be going back to Ethiopia next year to see more of the country, and will certainly be using his services again.

Contraté los servicios de Melsie para que me guiara por las iglesias talladas en piedra y por el monasterio Asheton Maryam. La experiencia fue magnífica pues es un guía ilustrado que domina los aspectos constructivos y la historia de cada monumento, haciendo una exposición clara y amena . Habla muy buen Inglés y ofrece un servicio excelente con un precio competitivo.
Tras las visitas correspondientes conversábamos sobre Etiopía disfrutando de una bebida en auténticos entornos locales .

Melsie was our favourite tour guide during our 3 weeks in Ethiopia. He showed us the main sights in Lalibela with detailed and comprehensive information that helped us to fully understand the history and the significance of this impressive place. Some of us got sick and he was extremely kind and gentile to get the proper medical care for us. I fully recommend Melsie as one of the best tour guides I have ever met.
