Since we were staying in town, I wanted to see the falls. It’s not easy in any case to find them, but especially now because they have been dammed. I was able to stand on the dry rocks that should have been covered with flowing water.

Below the falls is a kayak launch and mini park. It is maintained somewhat and has falls facts signs and a nice area to walk. An Best time of year to visit is in the fall of the year when the fall colors are abundant. Bring your camera or smart phone for great photos.

To see the Lyons Falls Waterfall you have to cross the bridge over Black River (from west to east) and take the next left onto Rt 39 N. There is a small parking area about a thousand feet from the turn from where you can walk practically next to the falls. A better viewing point of the falls is located anothe half a mile up north. The presence of the power station spoils the experience somewhat.
