Sheldrake Point's wines are excellent - certainly the best on Cayuga Lake, and among the top 5% in the Finger Lakes region. The tasting experience is very nice, relaxed (we were there on a Thursday afternoon), and informative. The staff is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Absolutely phenomenal winery experience. Had a reservation here for a tasting on June 17, 2022, and was absolutely blown away. First, I will begin with their service up front. Due to a technical error, the reservation got scheduled for the wrong day (June 11). Being from out of town (and making the reservation on the 11th), we would have obviously not been able to make the reservation time. I reached out and, within an hour of making the reservation, it had been moved to the right date and time.
Next, I have to give the space a huge shout out. Their tasting room is absolutely gorgeous and they have really worked to develop an interior and an exterior space that meets their clients' needs. We were tasting with our dog and they easily accommodated us outside.
Outside seating can pose some challenges and the wind definitely knocked over one of our tasters. Our waiter didn't even bat an eye. He went in and replaced the taster. Considering it came from their library selections, this wasn't a small thing. Again, I can't say enough about their service.
Finally, this was probably the best wine tasting we had in the Finger Lakes. By structuring the tasting in flights, it allowed us to simultaneously focus our tasting and work to get a variety of wines. My wife and I ordered the Beta Series flight and the Library flight. This gave us really unique interpretations, an idea of how their wines aged, and a nice mix of whites and reds. To have the library flight be only $3 more than the others was nice...I have seen other wineries charge double or triple the flight cost for such options.
All of this would be moot if the wine had been subpar. I can say enthusiastically that this was not the case! Every wine we tried was interesting and flavorful. We had to go back and forth on the bottle we wanted to take away (we eventually settled on a Beta Series Acid Head Riesling).
Overall, we tasted more than a dozen wineries in the Finger Lakes on our trip and this was our favorite. We will definitely be back when we return to the region!!

A friend recommended this winery when he heard we were visiting Ithaca. Luckily, it was only @15 minutes from the area we were planning on hiking. After hiking, we stopped at the Finger Lakes Cider House for lunch (it was the one of the only places to grab lunch in the area) and then headed to Sheldrake. The grounds were very nice and they overlooked the lake. Too bad it wasn’t a nice, sunny day! We could’ve sat outside and enjoyed the view. Instead we sat inside and each of us enjoyed a flight. Each flight was $12. Sweet wines are my favorite, so it was great to have a sweeter flight as an option. My husband enjoyed his flight, but wasn’t raving about it. In the end, we walked away buying three bottles of one of the wines (the 2020 Riesling Bubbles). The dessert wine was very good, but we weren’t willing to spend $60 for the bottle, and honestly, I don’t think I could drink more than a few sips. Next time we would check out another vineyard, but we were glad we visited this vineyard.

We stayed at the Driftwood Inn (great place), so we were able to walk to this winery. The view was beautiful and some of their expensive wines were very good. However, the tasting experience was not the best. We are new to wine tasting and was given very little guidance. We picked our wine and each glass had very little wine and no crackers or anything to eat between glasses. Since this was our first wine tasting, we thought maybe this was normal. However, all other wineries we have gone to since gave us more wine in each glass and crackers or something to eat between tastings.

Sheldrake was just down the road from our B&B. By the time we checked in and took a chance it was after 4:30 and they closed at 5:00 We were welcomed and seated. Several large parties were out on the lawn. We were given some water and we selected what flight we wanted and they had the option to add a 1/2 a glass of something if you wanted. The Twist to the Tasting! We opted to add one more into the tasting with the 1/2 glass option. I thought that was really nice "add on" to offer. There is almost always one on the list that you couldn't include in your flight/tasting. We selected our wines and it took a while for someone to come back to collect our list. A group of the gals were standing around chatting. Got our flight and add on. We saw other people come in after us and no one was rushed out once 5PM came which I was afraid of. Wines are a bit higher here than other wineries. Depending on your budget it may or may not be a good place for you to visit. We enjoyed what we tasted. Took some time to track down someone to bring us our bill so we could square up. I made notes and we thought maybe we would return during our stay to pick up a few bottles but never did. We did enjoy their Cab Sauv. Just disappointed the staff was too busy chatting with each other.But the 1/2 glass add on was unique.

This was not a good experience. Sheldrake Point is a very poorly executed, expensive, and pretentious winery. The wines themselves seemed exceedingly watery, not pleasant to drink, and of poor quality. I must say, they tasted terrible. The service was decent, but I did not see the same knowledge in each of the servers for their wines, that I saw at other wineries. I also did not appreciate their pre-made wine flights. I wanted to try a variety of wines of my own choosing, and they would not accommodate my request. I must say, this was not the best experience and I would recommend AGAINST visiting Sheldrake Point. I believe your money will be better spent elsewhere, since there are so many other winery options available!

We ended our wine tasting excursion here. We were too late to do a wine tasting, but we could still get a glass of wine and some snacks. We sat outside under their tent and enjoyed our last glass of Rose. Pretty spot overlooking the lake.

Greeted by a friendly host that explained our options during Covid. Walked around the beautiful grounds. We were a group if 8 so mot many seating options for all of us. We are sweet wine people. The wines here were not our favorites except the ice apple wine which made it worth the visit.

We bought three bottles of their red wines because they were kind enough to let us park our camper free - they belong to Harvest Hosts. The woman in the winery was very pleasant. Having been disappointed by wines produced in the Finger Lakes region, our expectations were low. But we were very pleasantly surprised! Very good wines. Their Meritage reserve was particularly good -dry, earthy, pleasant finish. Very “quaffable”. Beautiful grounds.
