We were visiting for the weekend. Son is getting married to a lady from Rochester. Dropped my wife at Simply Crepes for the Shower. Had a few hours to burn. I like bike, so I went to TOWPATHBIKE. First rate service and great understanding of my needs. Thanks for making my time enjoyable.

My wife & I spent the afternoon along the canal.
First a two + hour bike ride from Pittsford to Fairport and back and then west towards Rochester & back for several more miles.
The bikes were nice and in good condition and they provided helmets.
It was $60 for the two of us and we could have gone another hour, but we had reservations on a Sand Patch canal boat tour (see separate review).
I attached several pictures of our ride along the way and of the bike shop.

My wife and I bought our bikes at Towpath (Electra cruiser and Trek hybrid). The selection and the guidance of the staff was super with no hard salesmanship. Their support and selection of accessories is excellent as well. Any problems or repairs we have had have been dealt with courteously and in an expedited fashion, including a recent stop to fix a flat tire. I can't speak to their rentals but I highly recommend them for bike purchases and service. It may be possible to find something at discount elsewhere (though their prices are reasonable). But the relationship and support they offer is priceless.

Great shop, friendly and professional staff in a great location for biking the Erie Canal.
I wanted a hybrid mountain bike style tandem for my GF and I to ride the canal. The tandem we rented was more of a cruiser type that I think my mom or grandmother would have appreciated. Beware. This is not a negative if that’s what you want, just wish the staff would have answered me clearly when I pressed for a better description when making the reservation.
The seat was very uncomfortable and the bike wanted to shift gears on its own as we rode.
I had hoped to ride 40 plus miles.
10 miles, dinner and drinks which ended up being a blast and that’s what counted. Think it was the company I keep and not the bike that made it a success.
At $100 For the day I was disappointed and felt a bit foolish.

Across the street from the Del Monte Hotel and the Erie Canal Trail, tis bike shop offered comfortable rentals by the hour. We enjoyed a great hour long ride on the Canal path which wasn't crowded, then the excellent staff advised me on equipment I had been looking for but not found at home. I noticed they sell e-bikes- I LOVE mine- but not sure if they rent. But the Canal path is so flat, you don't need an e-bike.

From start to finish we were given the best of care and info about their best bikes by TREK. We did not make the purchase just yet but felt very confident in this shop if we decide to buy.

Rented a high end road bike for a couple of rides for my short stay in the Rochester area. I cannot speak highly enough of these guys - exceptional customer service, nothing is too much trouble and the bike, a Trek Emonda SL6 was sweet! The guys gave me several excellent routes to explore and i managed to do a short 18 miler and a rolling 52 miles into lovely countryside on quiet roads - if there were more stars to give, they’d get them! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Found myself at Towpath Bike Shop because another bike shop just down the road had terrible service last night. Being a relative novice I needed some help and the Towpath Staff delivered. From Sara helping me find the accessories I needed and helping me fit new shoes to the tech that did the install on my road bike who was very patient with my questions to KD at the register who was efficient, offered other advice and some humor sprinkled in. Towpath won over a customer with Excellent service!

Stopped in recently, had issues with bike rack. They were quite helpful and had me set up quickly. Inventory is awesome, as well as tons of accessories. They do rentals too.
