A fantastic, old school entertainment. Loved it as a kid and just as much decades later.
The only problem is that the Saturday show was more of a museum exhibition and we couldn't stay for Sunday's show, which is an old fashioned "Curse you Black Baron!" melodrama that is so much fun for, as the circus always called it, 'Children of All Ages", which to me means everyone with a sense of wonder.

My husband has wanted to visit the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome since he was young. We were in the area so made a spur of the moment stop here on a Wednesday afternoon in the off-season after Labor Day. It was pretty empty. He found the museum pretty interesting. We also went through three adjacent hangars with planes and a few other vehicles. While I appreciate the extensive collection of aircraft and related items that has taken years to amass, it was distressing to see how they are gathering dust and deteriorating in non-climate-controlled environments. Dusting, cleaning glass cabinets, and sweeping would be a start to spruce up the displays. Sad that such a great collection is wasting away.

This is a group of hundreds of airplane from the first ones, through WWI. If you love airplanes, this is a winner. My husband loved this, and it was mediocre for me. There are about 4 hangers FULL of airplanes. On certain days you can ride in a biplane.

Just a lot of fun for the aviation enthusiast and the child in all of us. The Saturday show is good, but I recommend the Sunday show. It’s not the type of airshow where you see 16 point rolls, or the latest unlimited acrobatics. It’s more an aerial version of a soap opera. The Back Baron has been kidnapping Trudy Truelove for over 50 years. Sir Percy Goodfellow always wins, but it’s still a lot of fun.

I’m a pilot and first read about this in Flying Magazine when I was in primary training, vowing to visit someday so I finally did. To see them actually fly these precious antiques is amazing. And there are hangars of other rare antiques to walk through although they’ll probably never fly. Good food, restrooms, bleachers, announcer to explain things. Easy parking in the grass lots. If it’s too windy they won’t fly because the aircraftmaremverymdifficult to fly plus irreplaceable.

The Rhinebeck Aerodrome in Redhook New York is a step back in time to Vintage early 1900s aviation.
Whether you go there alone with friends or even family takin the airshow it’s amazing and tour of the different Quonset huts and see vintage aircraft and vehicles.

We visited the Rhinebeck Aerodrone and took the Lighthouse Bi Plane Tour. What an absolute rush and unique experience! It is an 1/2 hour biplane ride seeing some of the lighthouse along the Hudson, as well as just amazing scenery.
It is a bit pricey, but well worth it for a totally unique experience.

Great entertainment for the whole family! Aviation history comes alive in daring aerial exhibitions of aircraft from the pioneer era, World War 1 (dogfights!), 1920''s barnstorming acts and aerobatic demonstrations. Shows are staged every Saturday and Sunday, mid-June thru mid-October...plus you can buy a glorious 15 minute ride in in open cockpit biplane before and after the shows or by appointment during the week. Too cool!

If you go this time of year, you'll miss the air shows. We missed by a week. But it is still an enjoyable visit. You can see 4 hangars of old planes and get some interesting history.

I enjoyed the ride offered in an actual 1929 open cockpit biplane. The cost is a consideration but the result to me was worth it. The young pilot (in his 20's proved to be very competent. Wind and noise made communication with the pilot difficult but he does (deserves) takes tips.
I believe that people working there are mainly volunteer and they are happy to answer visitor questions. We received an up close detailed inspection and explanation of an authentic Spirit of America replica that was exhibited.

According to the website, the gates open for the air shows at 10:00 AM. If you don't arrive until 11:00 or 11:30 AM, what are you missing? More than just an ability to jockey for the best seat or is there more to it? Got a 3 hour drive to it and we'll leave before 7 if we must but that isn't quite ideal!

Not sure as we did the bi plane lighthouse tour on a Thursday as opposed to weekend. I would suggest posing the question to them via the phone number listed on their website, or their email also listed there

Hello! Thank you for your inquiry! The Museum and grounds are open May 1 through October 31. Airshows start Mid June, but we do not have the dates set for the airshows yet for 2018. Advanced tickets are not required as there is plenty of seating. Currently if you buy a ticket online it is good for any show this season and so with a weather cancellation you can just use it a different day. If you are on site and we cancel we issue you a raincheck if less than half the show has been performed.

Hi, the biplane rides are about 15 minutes long. They run from Mid May to the end of October (weather depending) and are first come first served on weekends during the airshow season. They are $75 per person, we require at least 2 passengers and 4 passengers can go up at once. Thanks!

we just saw this show in july, and it was a hot day. there definitely are seats in the shade. as paul said in an earlier comment, the seating is all very rustic.
