Last night my family and I went on a Ghost Village Tour at Richmond town. Out guide was Christopher, and he was terrific. He completely bought into providing a character in costume that was in vibe with telling spooky stories about Staten Island as we were visiting the various houses on site. Each story was fascinating, including sharing some of his own personal anecdotes.
I would definitely recommend this tour for people who are looking for a fun and fascinating activity to do in the Halloween season.

Attended the Mock Trial of Mary Polly Bodine who was arrested for the double murder of her sister-in-law and infant daughter on Christmas Day 1843 here in Staten Island. The Mock Trial took place in the Richmondtown Courthouse where she was actually tried back then. Very interesting, well acted, particularly the prosecutor who was outstanding! Loved it.

Sort of a miniature Williamsburg with costumed interpreters. The chilly May day we visited had 5 of the many old buildings open along with the historic museum. The interpreters were all well informed and enthusiastic about informing the public. Good half day diversion.

Went to one of the concerts at the tavern. It was great, Old style music in an old style setting. Someone complained that it was small and crowded, they were missing the point.

Went to a Tavern concert at Richmondtown and was disappointed. The tavern is very small and furnished with picnic like tables and benches. The furnishing replicates the old time taverns but seat few and are uncomfortable. The small Tavern had approximately 30-35 attendees, not including entertainers. This Tavern should not have over 20 attendees to make for a comfortable setting.
I was sitting up against another attendee and was uncomfortable for the entire hour. Plus The service had to hop over me to serve drinks.
If richmondtown was to have many attendees in these concert, maybe they should have it in the big court house where there is room.

This place is a gem. I have been to many events here but my favorite is the Candlelight Christmas Tour. It’s so well done, informative & fun. All the actors stay in character in the houses & teach us so much about the times they represent. This was the second year I took the tour & a new house was added. It was excellent! I high recommend visiting this special place.

First time at the Ghost Tour at HRT. Amazing tour! As members we have been on many tours and visits to HRT and been in many buildings. This tour allowed visitors to get to many areas not usually accessible. Also saved $$ as members, so think about it!

A fascinating slice of history about Staten Island, NYC and America! The structures provide a wealth of information about the past and the costumed interpreters were fantastic. Historic Richmond Town is a must for tourists and locals alike!

A fine car park. As ours was the only car you could perhaps organise drag racing or maybe a tailgate party. But you definitely need to organise your own entertainment as whatever Historic Richmond might be it was definitely closed even though the middle of the day. Maybe it was like the Monty Python Norwegian Blue? ex Historic Richmond? Deceased? Former? Pushing up the daisies?

Historic Richmondtown states on their website that they are only open Wed-Sun from 1-5 pm. Do you mean they were closed during one of these times? Or did you go on a Monday or Tuesday?

I think it means they don't have tours those days and the visitor's center and museum is not open. The grounds would be open because it is just out in the open on a regular street/neighborhood, you could walk through it. You could walk right up to a bunch of the houses, they are just houses on the street. Frankly you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the old houses and other houses around at a glance. It's not like it's some cordoned off area, much of it is alongside a busy road/intersection. There's an area you can walk through without traffic, it is about 2 blocks or so. It would take about 5 minutes to walk the entire area.
