I went on the Holliday tour. The displays were beautiful! However, what soured it for me, is that they rush you through everything. If you dare to stay back from the tour group for even a second, some dude will come and scold you.
The lady who was my tour guide, wouldn't even let me make a quick video in the lobby. So I paid for this, and I can't even take a simple video?

We are glad that you liked our Holiday decorations! Unfortunately, we never allow filming in the mansion. We do allow pictures without flash, however! Fabulous place to visit. Tour was very informative. Do the longer tour to see everything. Staff was very nice and accommodated a change in tours with no issues. Worth a visit!

We did the evening tour celebrating the departed. A great hour long tour via the home and a history of how the departed are celebrated -
The mansion was elaborated decorated and cast in costumes to narrate the stories. The tour took us through many rooms and was a shame no pictures allowed. There are many stairs and levels so best to be mobile -
The outside grounds are expansive and are waterfront. Staff at the event were organized and festive - a great event!

An incredible jewel of a Golden Age property! It’s worth planning ahead and getting inside door tour tickets ahead of time. The day before the house and house/ grounds tour was sold out. We. Purchased lawn tickets and were thrilled when we checked at the visitor’s center, they had 2 available later. The grounds are vast and well manicured and having a tour of the house is a must! On the grounds, make sure to visit the greenhouse and bowling alley.
We had the inside house tour, hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to get Marin as a tour guide! She made the house come alive.
If you want too enjoy even further, take a picnic lunch to have at some outdoor tables or on the expansive grounds.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our one hour Classic tour today. Our tour guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. This mansion has some unique and beautiful furniture, stained glass, sculpted heads on the walls, and lovely grounds to walk around at your leisure. We walked down to the bowling alley building and looked in the windows. We then drove up Rt. 9 to the Horsefeathers restaurant for lunch. If you like to tour old homes, go see this one!

I took the classic tour and it was great. The guide sounded like she really enjoyed what she was talking about. We explored some of the grounds when we were finished and the old bowling alley was really cool.

We took the very interesting short (one hour) because of limited time. Our guide, Emile, was excellent. Learned a lot about the very rich New Yorkers of the Gilded Age. It is worth spending more time on the longer tour and on the grounds.

The Upstairs/Downstairs Tour explores the top of the five-story tower, the basement, and the laundry room. The Inside/Outside Tour explores the first and second floors of the house and the lower landscape of the property, including the Bowling Alley. Hope to see you soon!

Visited Lyndhurst with my 80 year old mother today. We both enjoyed this place very much. After parking and checking in we went to the bowling alley which has two lanes. The bowling alley is enclosed in a very cool looking building. It is a bit of a walk from where you park. Getting there not a problem. Coming back involves a hill. We found out after we could have driven down that way and then circled around back to the regular parking area. We booked the Upstairs/Downstairs tour. You get to see a few hidden spots the Classic Tour does not cover. Our tour guide Ed was great. After that we went to see the exhibit across from the Welcome Center. All in all a lovely day. Lots of serenity on the Lyndhurst grounds.

Visited the mansion around the holidays, so beautiful. The tour was very informative. Great to see the mansion is still in great shape. The interior has time period pieces, art and furniture, all original. If you are in Tarrytown don't miss the experience.

My wife and I took the Christmas tour of the mansion with a friend of ours. We booked our tickets weeks in advance and we were glad we did. It was sold out fast. The mansion overlooks the beautiful Hudson River.
The mansion was beautifully decorated for Christmas and was truly a spectacle. Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. He really knew the history of the property inside and out. He even told us about recent TV shows that had taped scenes inside the mansion as well as on the property. The history, beauty, and pieces of memorabilia inside the mansion are breathtaking. Great tidbits about the walls painted to make it look like marble but really are wood.
The walking tour lasted one hour. Even so it was winter, the grounds looked magnificent. There was a welcoming center and a gift shop. The signage and directions once you are on the property are excellent and they get you to where you need to be. The price of the tour was well worth it. There are always events at the mansion during the nice weather so I have no doubt we will be back. It was worth the hour drive.

we plan to stop by on out way up to New Paltz on a sat. afraid we won’t make the last 4 pm tour. anyone knows if we’d be able to walk around the grounds & see the mansion fr outside if we don’t do a tour? thnx!

Yes you can, however, you'll pay an entrance fee. It was $5 in July, 2019. The grounds are beautiful and they do allow picnics, but the house is amazing! They often have private events on the grounds, so you need to check at the gate. The park is open til dusk.

I believe that you can. there are 2 separate fees for the property. one is a grounds admission, which gets credited towards the house tour, if you take it.

I've honestly never been to Kykuit but Lyndhurst history Acritetcture and land is absolutey amazing and very affordable!

Yes, tickets can be purchased at the castle, but I would strongly suggest purchasing online prior to your visit. I've seen people turned away due to tickets being sold out.

From the Lyndhurst website: June through September, Tours on the hour: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Monday, 12:00-4:00 PM. Last Tour at 4:00 PM. I would check the website for other times of the year. Lyndhurst mansion is only available by going on one of their tours. We ordered tickets online before going, and it's worthwhile to do that.
