Very nice lake, the tour on the raft is wonderful. We've spotte differend kinds of tropical birds dpider monkey and a family of otters..and yes we did some pirana fishing also :-)

This is a wonderful lake. The views are spectacular and the sunsets magnificent. Lots of bird can be seen flying above on the shore and o tree branches in the lake.

Go around the lake on a boat, you can see plenty of wild life. If you go at night you need to be very quite

Nice freshwater lake near Tambopata river. A boat ride, a small hike and then onto a catamaran type raft
You can apparently swim in it and I would have if I knew.

Lago Tres Chimbadas has a wealth of wildlife to view--if you're lucky. Creatures are wild. We know that, so don't expect them to show themselves as if they were part of a ride at Disneyland. By leaving just before dawn from our lodge, Pasadas Amazonas, we were fortunate to see many birds, especially the hoazin (say watson), calling, flying, snacking, preening. The snakebird and others I cannot name shared their habitat with us as we floated by on a raft, pushed by a tall pole by our capable skipper. The stillness of the early morning was electric. One other raft shared the lake with us, but no one spoke a word. We hoped to see the giant river otters and waited, catching and releasing piranha in the meantime. Our guide Donnell explained that National Geographic Wild got it wrong (horrors!!). Piranha are not the voracious eating-machines they are portrayed to be--unless they are captured and deprived from food for a week. Then yes, they will strip a cow. The ones we caught were little and not at all intimidating, although our guide demonstrated that their teeth would make quick work of a leaf he held. Mostly, piranha eat seeds from the overhanging trees. Alas, the otters did not appear for us and we headed home, blissed out with the stillness and beauty of the lake.

Hi. What kind of hiking shoes did you need for the hike? Ankle hiking boots? Or more hiking tennis shoes? Any special clothing?

It depends on the season and the weather. It was pretty dry during our stay but there is potential for lots of mud that we didn’t have to worry about. My wife and I had ankle hiking boots. Not sure what the other two in our group wore. I would recommend covering the ankle for the extra protection from bug bites and sticks but if you don’t have those kinds you’ll probably be okay. No hike was too rough and most of the ground is pretty flat and the trails relatively clear. As for clothes, nothing really special. Light layers so you can protect you arms without getting hot or just tie long sleeve around your waist if you get hot. I’d avoid shorts due to the bug bite potential. Wear a hat.

I am trying to find a lodge where we would be able to visit the clay lick to see Macaws and also be able to see giant river otters.
Also the price of a three night four day stay would be.
Is the cost the trips an extra charge ?
