Exactly what you’d expect from a small winery in the great southern. The ploughmans nip is popular for a reason! Relaxed and quiet setting for a tasting. Service and knowledge of the cellar door staff is exceptional. A definite visit when you’re in Bremer Bay

My first negative review but damn the wines were bad. It's a lovely little shop, service was good and friendly but some of the wines were undrinkable. One of the freshly opened reds was so full of sediment it was almost cloudy. One sprawling was okish but that was it.

visiting the winery not only gave us a chance to try out some wines (and bought some!) but also learn a lot about the history of Bremer Bay. The lady serving us had a wealth of knowledge about the place, gave us some great tips re beaches to visit and was very knowledgeable about the wines.

Catch this place as you come into Bremer bay and grab a bottle for your nights consumption it’s a good price. We took away the sparkling moscato and un oaked Chardonnay very nice indeed. Some quite unusual flavours not what I would expect from some grape varieties pleasant lady served us. The fortified wine is very good indeed.

The wines at Gnornbup Wines are lovely. We ordered a dozen to be shipped to Melbourne for us and took a few with us. The lady behind the counter was so lovely and knew everything about the history of the winery and how they made each of the wines and so we felt very well informed. Great place.

While no expert, I have tasted a lot of wines at a lot of cellar doors, mostly in SA, Vic, NSW and ACT though not in W.A.
For a winery that only uses its own local grapes (one exception) the range is surprisingly wide. Apparently this is due to its origins as an experimental facility.
The whites were very pleasant, if atypical in my S.E. state experience. The wooded Chardonnay was buttery and sweet; the first I have enjoyed in a long time. The SBs seemed neither European nor NZ in style, but were pleasant. The gewurtztraminer was less sweet than I have had; again a refreshing change. Against all prejudices, I also enjoyed the “Sweet Sparkling”; a real surprise given that it is moscato.
The red list had two vintages each of pinot noir and merlot. Both enjoyable; I suspect which you prefer is, well, “a matter of taste”.
For desert, they have a Pedro, which was new to me, and a port. If you like tokay or muscat, you must try the Pedro: it won me. Its grapes are the single exception to being estate-grown, being from the relatively nearby Porongerup region. The port is good too.
Now for the other pleasant surprises: Wendy our server was unhurried, not at all pushy, clearly knowledgeable of the winery, wine maker and wine list, provided cheese and crackers, rinsed the glasses between wines, was generally delightful and even laughed at my jokes.
Another pleasant surprise. Cellar door price was $18 per bottle for everything. (I have paid a lot more at cellar doors for a lot less.)
P.S. Final pleasant surprise. Despite the name and the label, we did NOT encounter any tiger snakes.

Wendy was very knowledgeable about the wine, the region and all things Bremer bay. The young winery has some yummy wines and local produce such as jams and honey. We walked away with wine, jam and honey. Would definitely go back.

I can’t believe after coming for tastings not only did the lady convince my husband to try white wine but he likes it ( now I have to share 😂)
Did not feel rushed like at other wineries and really enjoyed the wines

We stopped off at Gnorbup to taste some local wines, and we were not disappointed! We learned about the history of the winery, where it got its name from, and got to try some delicious whites and reds. Each wine was truly unique! We loved the Chardonnay so much we had to buy a bottle! This is the most Eastern winery of WA, and a must-visit when you're in Bremer!
