“Lovely Spot for a Walk or Picnic”

Lovely quiet place to stop off to stretch your legs

Pleasant stroll along the top of the dam. Interesting information about its construction and statistics, also the six aboriginal seasons of the year. Below the dam, the area has been developed to provide landscaped areas with barbecues, picnic tables and a children’s playground under shade, toilets and a small amphitheatre and stage. Cycle tracks lead out to the area. Not another soul there - very peaceful.

Ideal place for a quiet picnic

I came mid-week on a school day, and virtually had the place to myself. The picnic areas near the road get quite a bit of traffic noise, but I found a quiet spot closer to the water. Near the Amphitheatre there is lots of grassed area, gazebos and shade, BBQs, picnic tables, a play area for kids, and toilets. All well maintained and nice to spend some relaxing time here. A walk trail circuit goes up to the dam wall, although you can also drive to a lookout with views at the top. Pretty place, a bit out of the way, and nice place to chill out on a sunny day.

Probably better in summer

This was my first visit to Harvey Dam, entrance from Weir Road end. Impressive structure albeit the water level somewhat low. Nice amphitheater and easy to visualise people enjoying a variety of performances during the warmer months. Good information signage but most would benefit from renewal. Plenty of walking tracks for the more energetic.

Beautiful peaceful place

Followed the GPS and end up at the tail of harvey dam where 4 X 4 meant to access. Great spot though as it was only us over there and couldn’t explain the serenity and calmness of the place. Felt inside where we stayed for couple of hours.

However, the original spot meant to have BBQ and toilet facilities. The dam from head to tail was well presented and equipped. (Will go another time to see the original top end of the dam.

(Dont turn from honeymoon road as it takes you to the track meant to be accessed by 4x 4. .. I was on a Honda sedan .. but still made through half of it... all road was gravelled. (Adventurous though)

Follow the road to weir road for actual spot where all the facilities are available...

Scenic stroll or Great Workout

A few minutes away from the township of Harvey, the May Gibbs pool lies beneath the Harvey Dam Wall. A splendid amphitheatre that plays host to a variety of performances including opera is surrounded by a myriad of walkways, a huge wooden footbridge and pleasant grassed areas with electric bbqs and lots of shaded areas.
Stop in for a short visit or a long walk with a picnic meal to reflect on this tranquil place.

Beautiful family spot

Wow this is truely amazing
We just called in for a look when driving past but we were blown away with how beautiful it is with the walks and view from the dam
Would recommend for a picnic and family outing

Peaceful and beautiful..

Isolated from all the crowd, peace, fresh air, beautiful scenery is what you can get at Harvey dam. Good for relaxedly sitting on shore or to bring your dog for a walk. Swimming, diving, rock climbing is strictly prohibited. Yet have seem some people fishing.

Nice bush walk

Great hidden spot for a family picnic or for just a wander around. I went around some of the paths and down to the riverside. It is a beautiful place. You can also take a short walk up to the overflow for another nice view.

Beautiful and Relaxing

We drove to Harvey Dam and Amphitheatre for a group get together. The place is absolutely stunning! The whole area is well maintained and the facilities are clean and tidy. It is very relaxing and a great connection with nature along with beautiful spiritual energies all around the place. Plenty of shaded area's as well.
