Summer and fall are good times to come here to enjoy the views of the mountains and the valleys. This is a splendid part of the Appalachian Trail area.

A week marked hiking and biking system 5200 ft up!
It’s difficult to find because gps will take you to the visitor center. If you’re coming from banner elk, you need to drive beyond the ski resort and continue on Pinnacle up the other side of the mountain. There is a clean portable toilet and a 8 parking spots.
It’s worth the drive.

The trails are well maintained and the scenery is beautiful! We saw many deer and a variety of plant life. The trails are well marked and maps are located throughout.

We hiked almost every trail within a few hours. Well-marked and not as strenuous as you may think when looking at the maps. We saw numerous wildflowers, deer, beautiful lookouts, etc. The trails were well maintained and easy hiking throughout.

6 miles if high altitude cross country mtn bike and hiking trails - mostly above 5,000 feet. Nice parking area on North Pinnacle Ridge Road or accessed from the ski lift in summer : Thurs thru Sunday. Local craft beer at the Beech Mtn Ski area Skybar with

The trails are well-maintained and well marked. A trail map is available at the Beech Mountain Visitor's Center or online at the Emerald Outback website. Use of the area and trails is free of charge.
We hiked in January in 4+ inches of snow and it was incredible. Beautiful scenery, silent snowy woods and deer grazing. Snow shoes would have been better and we did not know at the time that they are available for you to borrow from the Buckeye Recreation Center in Beech Mountain.
There are trails with various levels of difficulty ranging from "easy" to "moderate" to "advanced". The easy trails are great for beginning hikers and families with kids.
There is a parking area at the trailhead.
This was our first visit and we plan to return and hike in the spring.

We hiked in the snow in January and it was amazing! The trails are well marked and the trail map explains level of difficulty. We saw deer on our hike and there were deer prints all through the snow. The beauty of the forests was incredible. Planning to come back in the spring. There is no charge to visit. Although we are not bikers, these trails are also great for mountain biking.
