Really enjoyed our visit here. I thought the museum had a great variety in pieces and a couple special exhibits that were well done. It is not massive - it took us about an hour to see the whole thing.
We started from the top and worked our way down at the suggestion of the admission desk and it was a great flow.
Not too busy not overly expensive.
Worth the stop!

Not overwhelming but good and different art musuem. 5 floors but really just 3 floors of art. Nice places to sit, flows well. Wirth the senior price of 10 bucks. The museum store was really nice but very pricey.

Very nice museum to spend a morning. The building is very new and attractive. Although it is called Mint Museum, it’s really an art museum.

The Mint Museum was a blast! Nestled in the heart of Charlotte’s Uptown city center; This museum is easy to find and garage parking is plentiful. We were interested in exploring Charlotte as my parents have recently moved to the area. This museum did not disappoint.
The Mint has exhibit halls on several floors however there are elevators and escalators to assist anyone in need of access. As the front desk associate explained; it’s best to start viewing exhibits at the top level and then proceed down by floor if you intend to see all the offerings. I gauge you can move through the Museum in about 2 hours giving a slow to moderate pace.
There are an assortment of restaurants within a short walking distance to the museum and even a restaurant on ground level.
We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return as new exhibits and experiences are added regularly.

This is Charlotte, so don’t expect the Met. For a city this size, the museum has a very good collection. I was surprised by the quality of the American Art in the permanent collection. A very nice way to spend the afternoon. And don’t miss the fantastic restaurant!

The museum seems just normal as you walk up the levels. However, as you enter the 3rd/4th Floor you start seeing more grotesque art. That specifically includes nude pictures (in the name of art, of course), and voodoo/witchcraft like exhibitions. I’ve been to plenty of museums and art exhibits. However, this veered a little to “left” on the spectrum. I would not take any guests/family to this museum, let alone children.

Generally underwhelmed by the museum. There are essentially 2 floors of exhibits of largely contemporary/modern art, textiles, and design. A peaceful visit in that it is a luminous building that was rather empty on a Saturday afternoon but I can’t say we saw anything that really excited us. Just not our cup of tea.

As one of a group with modest to moderate levels of interest in art, this was one of the most enjoyable art museums I feel I have visited worldwide (which includes London, New York, Toronto as a slightly reluctant visitor to galleries there).
The blend of 19th century and modern art and different mediums worked well. Some museum explanations about some Staffordshire pottery (about 40 miles from where some of us hailed from) carrying images of the American revolution led to a (polite) argument in our group about the commercial/political motivations of 19th century English pottery factory owners, which was worthwhile in itself!
We even enjoyed the chair exhibition. I never thought I would write words to that effect ever in my life.
There was a little contentious ‘social justice’ hectoring in some exhibits on one floor, but overall the curation and description of exhibits was balanced.

While spending the day exploring Uptown, I checked out The Mint. The Mint is an art museum with five floors of exhibits. My favorite exhibit was the chair exhibit. I highly recommend The Mint if you like to visit art museums. You can easily spend the whole day here.

Really enjoyed the collections at this museum and the building was spectacular too. They also have a very nice, if a little pricey gift shop. It costs $15 per person but was well worth it.

The 16 and 19 buses stop at the corner of E Stonewall and S Tryon Streets, right by the Mint. The CityLynx Blue Line has their Stonewall and 3rd St/Convention Center stop, both of which require short (and pleasant) walks to the Mint. They are clearly marked on Google Maps. Hope this helps!

Purchasing tickets in-person is available at both Mint Museum Randolph and Uptown locations, plus there's a new shuttle to get you from one to the other for convenience of parking once. Recommend starting at Randolph where the parking is free, then head Uptown. Can also hit the Bechtler Museum and Gantt Museum while Uptown
