Fairly large shop that is old and rustic but was clean and all the booths were organized. Reasonable prices on the items we looked at and the item that my wife purchased. We'll stop in again the next time we are in the area.

In response to the two Latino girls, who made comments on this site about being discriminated against, I would like to rebut this comment. I was a customer in the store, at the time of the incident and waited in line to be waited on. The two girls who were suppose to be waiting on customer, were having a private conversation in Spanish and talking very loud. Customers were complaining, so the owner politely ask them to wait on the customers.They began to scream at the owner and accuse him of discrimination. The whole incident was blown up by these two. It was a unpleasant experience,for everyone. They got mad and as a way to even,they have tried to slander the owners good name. He is a decorated veteran who has served his Country and now serves Fayetteville. He has a great friendly atmosphere and has given many people in the areas jobs. When Louisiana was flooded,him and a friend rented a truck and passed out water, he collected! I know because, I am a frequent customer in his shop!

Since the exchange and livery were taken over by Fred LaChance the operation and quality of it's merchandise and tenants have improved greatly. I saw where these two women have given his place a poor rating, this was just sour grapes as they were very disrespectful when in his place and we're called out on it. Fred is retired Navy and loves this country and treats everyone with respect but will not let others disrespect others.

As we walked in the door I could tell this place would have the type of things I like. But as we walked further into the building I started noticing tight, cluttered booth with not much room to move around. If you saw something on a shelf in the back you would have to move things stacked in front of it before you could get to it. They also had a lot of area rugs in the main aisles and some were puckered or turned up at the corners and it was easy to trip on them. Some of the area rugs also slid under your feet. They tried to cover uneven cracks in the cement floor with area rugs and this just made for another tripping hazard.
We just passed right past many booth because of the clutter. It just isn't worth taking the chance of tripping or breaking something. We also don't enjoy having to move objects to get to another object to look at.
This place has a lot of great things but they don't make it easy to get to some of them. I think a major clean-up is in order. Just because you have a lot of things to sell doesn't mean you have to put all of them in your booth at the same time.

I've been visiting the Cotton Exchange and Livery for years. Keep in mind these are two separate stores/buildings. Many of the booths in the stores haven't changed or added new things. There's a few booths that just add and add and add that you cant even walk into them and look at things. There's other booths that are bare and have only a few items. I've gotten a few good pieces over the years but as an avid picker/junker it's not my first choice. A lot of the pieces are way over priced.
