Mary Jos Cloth Store in Gastonia was an amazing place for many years. Several years ago she passed away and the family has since closed the store.

We can thank NAFTA for the loss of textiles and Mary Jos iconic fabric store. Do research and VOTE in your elections!!!! Mary Jos was a pilgramige store with the finest selection of NC, SC textiles. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE America first.

Mary Jo's clost store was known for decades as a source of fabrics.
known throughout the country for friendly staff and variety of materials people would literally make a pilgrimage to come to Gastonia to visit this wonderful place.

Drove over two hours. Not a bolt of apparel fabric. Mary jo must be turning in her grave. Such a giant let down. I would not drive 2 hrs for upholstery fabric. Such a shame. The workers had bad attitudes when you ask what happened to the store.

A few months ago I went to Mary Jo's, I drove from Charlotte NC in heavy rain. When I walked into the store, I was highly disappointed. I have made many wedding gowns, outfits etc. Mary Lo's had the best fabric ever. I don't know who made the decision to make that change, need their head exam. I know Mary Jo's would not be happy with that decision. I would go to Mary Jo' because as large as Charlotte is there not one decent fabric shop. It was well worth the drive. It is a sin and disgrace.

Mary Jo’s fabric store was almost empty! There was not one piece of quilting cotton on the premises. I was absolutely shocked!

I walked into Mary Jo's today and was stunned. Haven't been up there in a year or more. It was horrible. The entire quilting section - gone. Bridal and dress fabrics - gone. The upholstery and drapery fabric - well, they were there but hardly half or less of what used to be there. I'm not a frequent sewer, so I get by there generally when I'm looking for something or, like now, about to start re-doing furniture or draperies. My bridesmaid fabric came from there in 1981, re-upholstered couches in the 90's, my bedroom curtain fabric came from there in the early 2010's. The poor saleswoman I asked, "are you closing?" and she said no - firmly. Except I don't see how they can stay open. It has gone from a hum of activity to only a few people. Oh my gosh, I was sick at what this store looks like now.

I drove 3 hours to get some quilting material. I almost cried after walking the entire store and saw only drapery and upholstery fabric. I will not be returning and I’ve been shopping here for 40 years!

I'm a bit confused. I saw in another site that you do not have shopping carts for patrons to use. Is this true?

Not sure if they have carts, the last time I was there I was getting fabric for my grand-daughters wedding. I just put the fabric on the cutting table and when I have made my mind up on what I wanted they cut it for me. Worked out fine. Never thought I needed a cart so didn't notice.
