We are locals. The launch site is in a remote, quiet area that can provide good fishing and crabbing. Because of the length of the ramp and the relatively "low" water depth at the end of the launch ramp, any boat that requires a tandem trailer should probably launch somewhere else. Getting in is never a problem, you can "scoot" your larger boat off of the trailer - it is the haul out that can present a problem. If you arrive back at low tide or the wind "empties" the creek, getting you boat out will be a problem!
For kayaks, canoes, small boats, it is a great site. Many days have been spent on the creek without another person or boat in sight. There is a "NO WAKE" speed restriction in the creek. Also, you might have the opportunity to see some alligators and dolphin, the mammal kind, visit the creek frequently.

My husband and I decided to check out the boat ramp and facilities at Cahooque Creek in the Croatan National Forest. The drive is about 5 miles off of Route 101 until you reach the water. About half of the drive is on asphalt pavement and the other half is on a fairly good dirt road. Pulling a boat out here could be tedious, but the end result is a nice parking area, boat ramp, and bathroom facilities.
