We went to hendersonville while visiting the mountains. Parked along the road in what looked like a perfectly legal parking spot. Came out to find $50 ticket! They need to pay for new garage! Its a shame, so many small cities going under. They need to keep city simple, clean, fun, safe, easy access.

On our day of driving back home to Florida we stopped here because the weather was inclement. The door was locked so you just have to ring the doorbell. We were enthusiastically greeted and welcomed. I felt so valued! This museum is well loved and much attention is brought to detail. There are two main sections: military and Saluda. You found yourself drawn into each piece due to the layout and the descriptions. Unfortunately we only saw the military side as we had to leave to return home. But, we will return to view the Saluda side on our next visit. Please plan to spend a minimum of an hour here.

This museum is a hidden gem in town. Located in the historic courthouse, it has exhibits that highlight the WNC history. The docents are knowledgeable and friendly. We had an enjoyable time touring the exhibits and the train room is a must see! We would highly recommend a visit to the museum.

This was a nice downtown stop. It adds to the stroll of a shopping and eating day. It is only average, but still worth a stop as you walk the downtown

I loved visiting the Henderson Heritage Museum. It was very interesting and educational. Definitely a great place to take your children to learn about our history!

The Heritage Museum is a free museum that includes a few different small collections. There is a room about local trains, a patchwork of war displays, and the history of the area. Of particular interest to me was the display about the giant touring pig from Hendersonville, relics from summer camps past, and the train exhibit. I can't say that the bulk of this collection sustains anything higher than lukewarm interest, but it's hard to criticize a free museum. Give it a go if you have nothing to do, but don't go out of your way to see this one. The subject matter just isn't that engaging.

We spent hours here. Volunteers were happy to add information about any display We loved it. Never expected such a fine museum and volunteers.

We visited the museum while on vacation. It was so amazing to see the history of Hendersonville. They had an awesome train display. Understanding the history of this city was amazing.

My wife and I will be visiting the museum in June. What is the suggested amount of time to tour the museum and its exhibits? Thank you.

I think a couple of hours will do it. It's a guided tour (free) and it kinda depends on how many questions and how much conversation you do with the guide. The guide can be very engaging. Enjoy. Be sure to visit the Mast General store at the other end of the street.
