Went out today 3/14/2023 to Burntshirt Vineyards. The weather was cold, so they offered a room with a fireplace as an alternative to the tasting bar. We went back to the bar only because the room with the fireplace is an event space not prepared to host individuals. The Gruner was flat had definitely been open too long. Estate Wine was good. The cheese plate was stale and the cost of $23,00 for something so poorly presented just finished us off. I highly recommend going to Marked Tree where the experience is more guest friendly and the wines superior.

It’s a longer story but we would suggest staying away from Vintner’s table at Burntshirt unless you want to have your reservation cancelled when you arrive and wrongly accused by Jasmine and Hagen the restaurant manager of being rude and using foul language to the staff in front of your fiends, family and other guests in the lobby when it did not happen.
If you as a manger (Hagen) thought this happened and trust me it did NOT, you don’t address it in the lobby at the restaurant as the guests arrive for dinner on New Years Eve. I had even stopped in on New Year’s Eve day to confirm our reservation with Jasmine around 1:30 pm and she said all was fine, then we get blindsided by “the restaurant manager” Hagen when we arrive for the reservation at 7pm
We reached out to the owner Mr. Oates 8 days ago and there has been no reply. We loved going to Burntshirt and have enjoyed both the Hendersonville and Chimney Rock locations several occasions but will not be back unless some changes to management are made and someone explains of why we were wrongly accused of this behavior. I really think they confused us with another guest, but they did not even want to discuss it. Beware, if it happened to us it could happen to anyone.

One of the worse spaghetti bolognese I have eat in my life. First of all we came in and the atmosphere was so vague and it looks like they didnt want to serve. Sat down by the fireplace and we have to proceed with wine tasting in which no one took the time to explain the wine complexity and or what we could eat to enhance the experience. We decided to go with White and Red samples in which they were okay. Got to order the Spaghetti Bolognese and it was horrible, Blount, no flavor what so ever, no meat basically, right same thing I said Bolognese and no meat; Yes no flavor but Caesar salad was amazing!!! Chef needs to go to Italy and learn how to make pasta plates in order to satisfy the customer. I was stationed in Italy for 7 years and we ate a lot of pasta and this was not even close to a Canned Pasta!!! Horrible experience with the food and we will NEVER eat there again. Wine wise Yes we will give them another opportunity if someone takes the time and steer us the right way!!!

I do not often write critical reviews, but my dinner at Burnt Shirt Winery was quite poor.
My brother and our wives ate at the restaurant on 11/19/22. My brother and I ordered the fresh ricotta cavatelli, pork, tomato ragu and shaved Grana Padano. I do not recommend this dish. It tasted like a can of tomato sauce was poured on some cavatelli, a few bits of pork added with a few bits of shaved cheese on top. I did not see or taste any oregano. We ate less than half. I would have thought the wait staff would ask how we enjoyed it, but she did not.
On the other hand my wife had the herb ricotta stuffed ravioli, which was very tasty and my sister in law had the seared salmon which she enjoyed.
The wine was very good.
The restaurant is one large room. Be prepared for a lot of noise if the place is full. Otherwise, it is very nice inside, with a large gas fireplace adding to the ambiance.

The day was supposed to be a celebration for my mother-in-laws birthday and it started out well. Josh at the tasting room was amazing. He was genuine, knowledgeable, personable and overall a delight. We went on the winery tour which was more than we could have asked for. Dave the current wine maker and manager lead the tasting and it was enlightening and super educational. I thoroughly enjoyed it. What soured the day was the fact that we made reservations for the restaurant for lunch at 3pm and they are completely incompetent with zero direction nor oversight. They sat us at a table and then exactly 14 minutes later still had yet to be greeted by a waiter nor offered any water etc. We went over twice during that time to the hostess to first ask if we might be able to sit closer to the fire place since it was FREEZING inside, (answer was no) and then to inquire where the waiter was (to which they replied “what table are you at”) mind you…there were three other tables in the place at that time (not busy at all). Eventually after 15 minutes of waiting and not being greeted we left. We went to close our tab out at the tasting room and head out. Again, Josh was gracious and turned the sour day into a positive. If it weren’t for Dave and Josh, I would have cried about the disaster of a day for my mothers birthday. Josh provided us with a charcuterie board while we had a glass of wine and closed out our tab. I feel like the winery could be exceptional with better attention to the restaurant and training for the staff. Until then, avoid the restaurant at ALL COSTS.

I have given a 5 star review because of our frequent visit's to both Burntshirt location's & past experience's with both, however, this particular visit we did encounter a strange interaction with one of the wine tasting bartender's named Annie. Thankfully it was short lived & our table was ready. We then enjoyed, as usual, a wonderful meal & time with friends at the restaurant/winery in Chimney Rock.

Disappointed! Drove down for a nice lunch and was disappointed. The hamburger was ok but bun was cold. Additional charge for lettuce, tomato and onions. French fries were not done. The quality of the food was about the same as a hamburger joint.

Where do we start… arrived around 2 pm and saw there was a winery tour, Great! Go inside to the tasting areas and ask where do we go for the tour, sorry understaffed today , no tours… ok we order a flight of wine and ask about a cheese platter as there is a sign on the door, we are told you get those over at the bistro…. Ok go over to the bistro and are told… we are understaffed and can only do 8 tables at a time today so we have to wait 25 minutes, we ask can’t we just get a cheese board… nope….
Finish our flight as we sit down we order a bottle and finally our cheese platter. Takes about ten minutes and the cheese platter comes out but no wine… ok, track down the server and finally get our wine. My wife tasted the wine… yes it is a white at room temperature…. The server now looks totally flustered and gets us “chilled” glasses which did little to help or warm wine.
Sorry this was such a poor experience but we saw no one in management running this place, especially after just opening their bistro three days prior. We understood them running out of several products after a busy weekend but do not understand how poorly this beautiful place was being run….

Nice views of the vineyards. Live music. Huge outside patio. We selected 5 wines for tasting and the price was very reasonable and decent size pours. Lovely afternoon after a morning hike.

The testing pours are generous and we had the charcuterie plate as an accompaniment (which we recommend). You get to choose 5 tastings out of a selection of 10 or 12 (red and white). I like white wines and my husband likes red wines and out of the selections, we both liked the Gruner Vetliner enough to but a bottle. Lovely surroundings and views of one of their vineyards. Don’t pass this vineyard by!

They serve food. You can either pre-order a day in advance or order from the food truck. My husband and I ordered from the food truck and were both pleased (and we are selective on taste). Also, the patio area is beautiful!
