Went to the theater with my family and had a good time. The building was clean and spacious. The play was good.

Ragtime was an amazing musical with deep messages targeted for the adult audience. Each time I visit this theatre I have been thrilled by the talented performers, both in acting, but especially in voice.
Hickory has a true gem with the range of talent and dedication these performers bring to the stage

Surprisingly, curse words were used in the script, with many children in attendance. Also, if you are a Christian, I would advise against attending this play. There is one line in particular that puts down Christian’s who share their faith. It was extremely offensive. Left before intermission. Have attended other plays at Hickory Community Theatre that we’re great!

We love to go on the ladies night which is Thursday night. But whenever you go this production company knows how to put on a PLAY! Creative scenery and costumes, but most important they each seem to find the role played. Highly recommended entertainment for a romantic night out on the town or just a girls night out!

The Hickory Community Theater...affectionately known by locals as HCT...produces some of the finest entertainment I've come to enjoy in a city of 45,000. No, it's not the Kennedy Center nor the National Theater in Washington DC...nor is it NYC's Broadway...though "off Broadway" comes close. What it is, is a display of talent...mostly non-professional but some, seasoned professional. From full scale stage productions to Hickory's "off Broadway" version known as "The Firemen's Kitchen", I've never been disappointed. Just last weekend (6 May 17), local singing artist Nathen Hefner entertained with a fabulous show on the big stage. The backup orchestra was nothing short of what I've witnessed in much larger cities. The talent of the musicians was overwhelmingly star quality. Russ Wilson of Asheville directed the band with as much enthusiasm as you'd witness in the best of musical productions. Nathan Hefner brings a blend of wonderful numbers from the likes of Johnny Mercer, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Pattie Page, Mel Torme, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin...the list goes on. In the 16 years since I moved to Hickory from Washington DC, I've never witnessed a bad production at HCT. Behove me to say, I have only experienced the best of community theater at the HCT. Check out the HCT website for future productions. If you are from out of town, consider making Hickory a weekend theater destination. Outstanding hotels and local non-chain high-end quality restaurants await you. You'll not be disappointed! Once you've tried it, you'll definitely come back.

Nothing short of a panic my daughter and I just enjoyed Bythe Spirit after driving in circles for 40 minutes call ahead and get written directions and pack a sweater it was a 100 degrees outside and freezing in the theater. However all and all we would definitely come again acting was first rate

We saw " young Frankenstein " it is amazing that we have such good talent locally .. There isn't a bad seat in the house! Good acoustics staff very nice and helpful. Highly recommend it

We have missed very few productions at the Hickory Community Theater since we moved here 6 years ago. There have been a few bad ones. We've walked out on a couple. The musicals are usually first rate. If it is a well know play it is usually good. The ones that are risky are plays you never heard of. The theater itself has been greatly improved over the last 2 years as they have embarked on a $1.0+M improvement program. New seats, New Bathrooms. Can highly recommend the HCT for a fun and entertaining weekend.

We enjoy their plays. Sometimes a little uneven product (i.e. some plays are great, some not so much); but about what you would expect from a community theater. We enjoy the Fireman's Kitchen -- an area for small cast, minimalistic sets, dramas. These are usually their strongest offerings.

The good news is that the Hickory Community Theater is in a quaint location, has ample parking, and is very pretty once you enter the theater. The bad news is that you might not get the best performance from the local talent. The joint wasn't exactly jumping during Ain't Misbehavin' but it was a decent performance given by what appeared to be mostly senior citizens on stage. Lastly, the ugly - you may see a rat on your way into the theater at night. Not their fault, just be warned. I was glad to have the experience. I didn't regret spending the money for tickets. But, I probably won't go back.
