Отличное путешествие, очень живописно. Кругом прекрасные виды, горный воздух. Нам понравилось. Гид был доброжелательный.

We travelled to Loolkadura estate from Rikilligaskada. As you go, you will first come across James Taylor's statue. The road which you come to the statue is abit rocky. Can rate it 3/5, not carpeted. Then you come to the entrance of loolkadura gate where there's a 5kms hike to the top. Or, I went in a alto k10 which made me go 5kms in the car itself. Road=1/5. Very bad Sandy and rocky road. I was charged 250 for taking my vehicle upstairs. Many school students started walking 5kms from the bottom. You can also speak to one of the local area tourist agents to go in their bolero jeep, am sure they'd charge you abit more. After all, comfort is not cheap. After you reach the top, you can go James Taylor's ruins, then a 30 min rocks and stone hike to Konda gala. Quite easy. Take water to drink and don't pollute the place! Be careful of the heavy wind on the top so don't go to the corners. The hike to the top is beautiful cz you need to walk with the tea leaf bushes which has paved it's safe way to the top. As you come back, you can visit James Taylor's seat and then leave. Again at the end, 5kms walk back downstairs or go in the vehicle. I'd say, better check your tires and vehicle before you go up the Sandy and rocky road as it might not be safe for an old vehicle. Road is very narrow and scary. Few Tamil tea estate who work and live there can guide you if you want. As you come out, you'll find a lady with a child who sells veg patties and veg dhal wade, a cute family, plz do buy something and help them! Overall, awesome hike to Kondagala via Loolkadura estate. This beauty should be only seen live. No picture can translate the live view of this beautiful place!

We were there last December (2018). This is the first tea plantation of Sri Lanka. It's kind of mini Nuwara eliya. But still so virgin not known by many people. It can be accessible via 4 wheel vehicle. On the top, it has a breathtaking view point just like world's end called as "view point of James taylor's seat". The surrounding was just so gorgeous !!!

A couple of hours from Kandy, this beautiful estate provides a picture of the great Ceylon/Sri Lankan Tea Industry. A very steep climb by taxi and walk 750m to James Taylor's Cottage and views. Tranquil and low-key site. A visit to a working tea factory (Storefield Tea Factory, Gampola) is approx 60 mins away. Taxi Sri Lanka arranged this tour (taxicabsrilanka@gmail.com) from Mountbatten Hotel, Kandy. Cost 9000 SLK for 2 people.

Poorly maintained and impossible to understand a word the guide said. Views and surrounding countryside were outstanding though.

This is a hidden gem...From kandy first you have to go to Delthota...There are enough buses to go...After 2 hour journey(by bus) then you can buy things from Delthota...It is a small town..Near loolecondera estate you can't find enough shops..Then you have to enter to the Hewaheta bus.(there are some buses from Kandy to Hewaheta.but there are less numbers). After 20 miniutes you can reach Looleconders...Then go on foot..it is the most enjoyable thing...After 5km walk you can reach Kondagala...You must hike this rock.....Remember specially public transport travelers, there are no buses from Delthota to Kandy from 6 pm..so you have to manage your time...If you miss the buses you have to hire small lorries to come to Kandy...

Kondagala is situated in Loolkadura estate near Delthota via Galaha road. There is hug flat rock which is easy to climb. View from there is marvelous and there is another view point at Tailors seat.
It is the first tea estate of Sri Lanka and their is ancient well and remains of old bungalow.

This deserves more attention and publicity, specially considering the historical significance of this estate to Ceylon Tea.

According to Google maps, the climb up to the top to see James Taylors Seat is 4.5km and about 1:15 minutes. But in reality it takes much longer - for us it was over 2 hours. If we go there again we would opt to take the vehicle. This is not a free facility, but is certainly worth the insignificant entrance fee.

The view from James Taylors seat is a breathtaking. But to enjoy it properly, you need to avoid rainy or overcast days. Also, note that the weather in this area can change very fast. Unless it is during a dry season, it is advisable to be prepared for rain. It can also get a bit cold at the top of the hill.

First of all must say this place is the place where the first tea plant was planted in srilanka. It is a one day trip from kandy town. The whole travel is very scenic.

Not sure what the spelling permutations are. Loolkandura vs Loolecondera but same place. This was a truly magnificent day trip from Kandy. Roads are totally horrendous in places. I took a little tuk tuk, it did struggle a bit and it took a hammering on the roads so a hefty tip was given at the end of the day. This places ticked three of my Major Factor boxes, Tea, History and stunning scenery. The tea plantations are nothing but spectacular and stretch as far as the eye can see, the back drops are world class, some informative information boards (few but good) and extremely well kept plantations and historical points of interest. A lot of effort has clearly went into maintaining this area, it's something special. If you have any interest in the history of tea in Sri Lanka (Ceylon as it was known previously) then this is a MUST SEE, the first commercial tea estate planted and run by James Taylor (the Scots father of Ceylon tea). What is left of his little cottage has being lovingly preserved and information boards placed with care. I aslo made a visit to the Loolecondera tea factor which is a little bit away from the tea fields and Mr Taylor's bungalow / bath / seat. I later visited Lipton's seat in Haputale and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, Loolecondera remains number one tea plantation visit. An ABSOLUTE MUST SEE if interested in tea, tea history and specifically the history of tea in Sri Lanka. Mr Taylor was one tough cookie! If in doubt, go visit! I had the entire place to myself (March 2016).
