We had an awesome time! My daughter rented a cabin and RV. We got the cabin and it was so much fun! The free to order breakfast was excellent! I can’t believe what a great deal this place was! And the gem shop! You can afford to buy a bag full of goodies if you want. I loved the history of the place. The gem shop was built around a giant slab of rock from Vein Mountain. There’s a streak of quartz running through it that has the gold seam running along with it. We had the best time with our family panning for gold, rock hunting and cooking out. We bought a bag of sand to pan for my husband’s birthday. He’s savoring the moment to pan on his birthday. They even recommended we use a tote to pan in so we don’t lose any gold. We’re going to go back hopefully again this summer! We can’t wait! Thank you Lucky Strike Campground and gold and gem mine! You guys rock!!!

My girlfriend and I and another couple rented the cabin this past weekend and we had the most awesome experience of our life! If you want to experience gold mining , you need to go to Lucky strike and talk to Keith and you’ll get hooked up they have gems and gold and all the equipment you could need and they are the nicest community you could ever encounter!! Marion, NC. Vein Mountain.

Horrible experience. From the minute we walked in and began asking questions you can tell they were annoyed that we even showed up to gold mine. We honestly just wanted to do some gold panning but of course, being from out of town we were unsure of how to do this. The woman who attended us at first and explained the different options to pan was very friendly and nice however, there was an older man who brought us the dirt to pan out gold and was extremely rude. Laughing at what we chose from their selection of pans (the plate where you sort through the dirt to find the gold) saying it wasn’t big enough. We explained it was our first time doing this and we really needed guidance and he handed us some other pans, without acknowledging our comment and responded “well, open your bag” in a very rude, condescending way. It honestly felt like we were being discriminated against because we were a different race. We ended up leaving because the service was so TERRIBLE. It was almost like we were bothering them or annoyed they had to “teach us” how to do it. The mining or panning experience might be cool but the service here is terrible. Do NOT recommend AT ALL!!!

The older adults (Seniors) seem to have an okay time there, however, I didn't see many young adults around. Also, no activities for children, such as a playground or swings. I would also suggest that you bring your own chairs and a umbrella unless you enjoy standing in the sun or sitting in the sand.

We took four adults and two grandchildren to mine for gold. Not a good environment for small children. Because of the dredging, the water is dark and murky with a dropoff of 12 feet. Could be dangerous if a child accidentally fell in as you can't see into the murky water. Nothing there like a playground to entertain a small child, just mounds of dirt and rocks. Our small kids were board with in an hour.

My first solo at Lucky Strike I got color. I usually go with my wife. This time I went alone. Had a great time. This is a must do for the family. Great place for learning how to pan, high banking, and dredging.

We stayed for 8 days and will definitely go back!! The sites were nice and level and spacious! The owners and workers treat you like family. If you have a question either about gold panning or high banking, they were more then happy to tell you and show you how it is done. My husband and I were in an auto accident while there, and the owner and staff checked up on us to make sure we were ok and if we needed anything. The restaurant has fantastic food and the prices were more then reasonable.We have never been to another campground where we were overwhelmed with love and kindness as we were here! This campground is more about making sure you enjoy your visit instead of the "almighty dollar"!!

We ate lunch here yesterday and the the food was wonderful. Homemade burgers to order. This place is I'm a very tranquil place. You hear the creek and river and can just relax or you can participate in a dig for gold. We choose to relax and look around. We are considering becoming members and enjoy the area several times a year! Worth the trip.

Huge sign, telling us to turn into Lucky Strike. After that nada. We checked in to camp with our RV. No Park map , nothing . I was told I would find our site number on the thing. We left. It’s a junk heap, with nothing. It was scary. Stay away!
