Had my haircut here 2 days ago. Barber did a good job & we talked a lot. Also spoke with the son of the barber who was the inspiration for "Floyd the barber".

My husband was still able to get his hair cut here

Loved hearing Floyd's son tell stories and his demonstration of the cash register. Great memories create here. My husband was able to get his hair cut by the barber working that day. Be sure to look at the clock for the time.

Not open while we were there.

Very quaint small town to walk around. You can see inside Floyd’s barber shop but it was closed during out visit. Overall if you are an Andy Griffith show fan this is a fun replica to visit.

So cute and its hasent changed a bit. Floyd's son was in the shop and answered questions and told stories about his dad and Andy.

A must see for Andy Griffith fans

This was a cute place to visit. The walls are filled with pictures of visitors and stars alike. It’s got the original Barber chairs even though the shop is smaller. It is a working barber shop and the gentleman there are glad to tell you the history of the shop.

What a hoot... Stopped in to Floyd's not knowing what to expect.. It was a great experience, lots of laughs. Very personable gentleman that obviously enjoyed meeting people and having fun.

Many Folks don't realize that Floyd's is a working Barber Shop so if you are visiting try to bring a guest who needs a haircut. Floyd will welcome you anyway but business pays the bills. I got one there for $15 and it was professional. This is indeed the original shop that Andy got his haircuts at. The current owner is the son of the original owner. He will be very glad to show you a picture of his Dad who was Andy's barber and is an identical for Howard McNeer the actor who played Floyd. He is doing a good job of keeping the tradition of Floyd the Barber. I experienced no waiting but went right after breakfast at Barney's next door eatery.

Floyd’s Barbershop is a “must see”

We had the best time at Floyd’s Barbershop today. Bill Hiatt is so much fun to talk to and my husband got what is probably one of the best haircuts he’s ever had (his Barber is a Pulitzer Prize nominated author). Definitely a recommended stop during your trip to Mayberry (Mount Airy).

Visiting Floyd's is a must. Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and missed getting to meet "Bill". Bill is the son of the real Floyd the barber who did cut Andy's hair. However, we had a great visit with Jeff and he took our picture sitting in the actual chair Floyd cut Andy's hair in. It's a cool shop, 90 year old chairs that outside regular PM have never had to be repaired or replaced. They even have a kid size chair, you don't see many of those. Jeff was very nice to visit with us, even though technically he was "on the clock". The next day we did see Bill on the sidewalk and I had the chance to say "hey", but honestly just flat out forgot to get a picture. Maybe next time. Go to Floyd's...good times there!
