What a cute place to explore! Reminds me of the old time hardware stores I used to go in as a kid. So many cute and unique quality items! The staff was very friendly and knowledgable.

Fun hardware store (yes, fun!) in the center of New Bern, NC. Steeped in history and engrained in the local community for many years. Items from plumbing to ceiling fans to candy to candles to hostess gifts - - it's all here.
Friendly staff and there is a bear out front that will welcome you.

In New Bern for the day (our first time), my wife and I made a point of stopping by here on our walk through the downtown area. They pretty much have everything you might need, and we had fun wandering around inside. Brought back fond memories of the pre-Home Depot and Lowe's local hardware store days.

Wow hardware store has been here forever. And inside the building the old floors make you feel like you're stepping back in time and matter fact you are stepping back in time. And this wonderful place that was in a Mitchell family for years and years and years and then has been handed over to new owners that keep the traditional life. Excellent choices lots of neat stuff. And as they say if we don't have it you don't need it. It's worth a trip to walk around especially if you have grandkids to show them how it used to be

This was the neatest hardware store we have visited in years. It takes one back to what hardware stores were before chains. If you don't find what you need there, you probably can't find it anywhere. One whole section was devoted to kitchen and house ware items both practical and gifts. I did a bit of Christmas shopping and was amazed they offered free gift wrapping with lovely paper and ribbons. Visitors definitely need to visit Mitchell's. Every employee we encountered was friendly and so helpful.

This shop is like stepping back in time! You’d be hard pressed to come in here and not find some little item you just had to have. Tools, kitchen supplies, gardening items, grilling supplies, jigsaw puzzles, soaps, decorative items—they’ve got it.

We stopped in at Mitchell's on a rainy Saturday to check the place out. My wife enjoyed wandering the store and left with a New Bern Christmas ornament. Staff was super friendly and made the visit very pleasurable. Thanks!

While downtown I received a recommendation to checkout Mitchell's. Part time hardware store, part time anything and just about everything. Found some new items, some old stuff and a little bit of everything. Definitely worth a stop.

This is so much more than a hardware store. Yes, you can purchase your nails and tools there. They have old time gifts like the Blue Duncan yoyo that I had when I was young. Gifts from hats to shoes to jams and jellies. It was like a walk back in time wandering around the store. with so much to see. I purchased an Audubon Bird Call. A must stop when in New Bern.
